5 surprising voice actors in Young Jedi Adventures
As a dedicated Star Wars fan, I must say that diving into the world of Young Jedi Adventures has been an absolute treat! The show may be marketed towards preschoolers, but it certainly doesn’t skimp on the talent department. From Dee Bradley Baker and Shelby Young to Corey Burton, the series already boasts some heavy-hitters from Lucasfilm Animation. However, what really sets this show apart are the guest and recurring roles played by a plethora of talented actors that might surprise even the most ardent fans!
Despite being a preschool series, “Young Jedi Adventures” certainly doesn’t skimp on vocal talent. Boasting some of Lucasfilm Animation’s top talents like Dee Bradley Baker, Noshir Dalal, Shelby Young, and Corey Burton, the show is already stacked with star power. But what might truly astound you is the impressive roster of guest and recurring roles, which includes Emmy Award-winning talent!
Here are 5 actors that you might not have known was in Young Jedi Adventures.
1. Jason Mantzoukas
Jason Mantzoukas has significantly expanded his acting portfolio within Disney over the past few years. He’s appeared in shows like “DuckTales” and portrayed Mr. D (Dionysus) in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” More recently, he’s made a transition into the world of Star Trek, and now, he’s venturing further with his role in “Young Jedi Adventures” Season 2 as a new character named Bulcha, a Hutt
2. Haley Joel Osment
It’s frequently challenging for child performers to advance in their careers, and Haley Joel Osment has managed to establish a successful one. From voicing characters in movies like “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous” to live-action roles in “Goliath” and “What We Do In The Shadows“, he’s become an entertaining figure to observe. Who can easily forget his memorable role as Sora in the “Kingdom Hearts” series? Now, he holds a continuing role as the capitalist-loving Gozzo, Raxlo, in “Young Jedi Adventures ” (my personal favorite character in the franchise)
3. Liam O’Brien and Sam Riegel
Absolutely, you’re getting a double deal here, but it’s fascinating how well these two talents complement each other. Fans of Critters might recognize Sam Riegel and Liam O’Brien from their roles as Scanlan and Vax’ildan in Critical Role and The Legend of Vox Machina. However, they aren’t new to the Star Wars universe. Liam has appeared in numerous series, while the pair played Bolo and Ketch, the endearing jokers in Cid’s tavern on The Bad Batch. In Young Jedi Adventures, Sam plays Corr Taldaan and Rix Tegano, with Liam portraying beloved High Republic character, Jedi Master Estala Maru
4. Keston John
Keston John possesses a diverse set of abilities. His voice acting spans from roles in ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’ and ‘The Owl House’, to live-action parts in ‘Obliterated’ and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. He has also been featured in ‘Star Wars Resistance’ and ‘Tales of the Empire’. In ‘Young Jedi Adventures’, he plays the character, Jedi Master Carver Drow
5. David Tennant
Did you know? Actor David Tennant is the sole recipient of a Daytime Emmy Award within the Star Wars universe, for his portrayal of Huyang in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He previously played similar roles in Doctor Who and Good Omens. However, this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Huyang or Tennant as he reappeared in Season 2 of Young Jedi Adventures. This appearance marks one of the earliest instances of Huyang in the current canon timeline at the time of writing
