5 Romance Anime That Need Sequels ASAP—We’re Still Waiting For These Love Stories To Finish
Over the years, I’ve noticed that many romance-themed shows don’t seem to last beyond a season or two before they get axed or left unresolved. It’s become almost a tradition among romance anime enthusiasts to brace themselves for an abrupt ending. Yet, there are some exceptional romantic series that leave such a lasting impression on viewers that they crave more episodes, hoping for future seasons.
Numerous romantic anime series could continue with a follow-up season, but a select few romance titles captivate audiences so deeply that viewers eagerly anticipate immediate continuations. Given the surge of popularity for romance anime, it’s unfortunate that more stories don’t see their love tales through to completion. Hopefully, fans of yet-to-be-continued popular romantic anime series will witness the conclusion of their beloved shows in the not-too-distant future.
Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun Isn’t Currently Available for Streaming
I simply can’t get enough of the lighthearted and delightful anime, Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun. Unlike other shows that take themselves too seriously, this one keeps things fun and entertaining! The character I find myself rooting for the most is Chiyo Sakura. Despite her countless failed attempts at catching Umetaro Nozaki’s eye, now that she’s working as his assistant on his shōjo manga, I can’t help but feel hopeful that they might finally get closer.
Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun is a joyous journey through the ups and downs of high school life, love, and friendships. Unfortunately, the first season concludes with another classic mix-up when it seems like Nozaki misunderstood Sakura’s words about loving fireworks instead of her confession of feelings; however, fans are left pondering if perhaps he might have heard her after all!
The anime titled Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun is brimming with energy, and its endearing characters make it stand out. The secondary couples in the series are so entertaining that they could easily carry more screen time. Additionally, the show offers a unique perspective on the manga industry through the lens of Nozaki and his peers. Unfortunately, Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun was tragically cut short, despite being well-loved by fans.
It’s high time for a follow-up of Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun, as it would be intriguing to find out if Nozaki truly grasps Sakura’s hints in the show’s concluding scenes. Though Nozaki excels academically, viewers are eager to witness him display some wisdom beyond the classroom. Over the course of the series, Sakura has formed deep connections and experienced numerous near-romantic encounters with Nozaki, making it a pity that their tale wasn’t fleshed out more. The audience yearns for a resolution to the romantic tension between Sakura and Nozaki after so many amusing mix-ups, and a sequel to Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun would provide just that.
The Stranger By the Shore is now streaming on
The Man by the Seaside”
This captivating animated film titled “The Man by the Seaside” explores themes of grief, guilt, and self-acceptance. Characters Mio Chibana and Shun Hashimoto grapple with their identities and personal growth amidst life’s tumultuous changes. Along the journey, they discover solace in one another. The movie is breathtakingly beautiful from start to finish; however, its conclusion leaves viewers hanging with an unfulfilling cliffhanger.
In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the protagonist, Shun, who has been distant from his family, decides to brave the journey back to them upon learning that his father is unwell. The movie concludes as Shun and Mio prepare to set off for Shun’s old family home, leaving viewers in suspense about whether Shun’s family will embrace Mio and if they will make amends for their past mistreatment of Shun. This emotional climax comes after the audience has invested time anticipating the growth of their relationship throughout the film.
Shun’s journey throughout the story revolves around his embarrassment about his sexuality, which was instilled in him by his family and peers during his youth. A poignant scene would have been Shun reconnecting with his father after a long separation, given their history. However, the story leaves Shun’s character arc unresolved, providing an opportunity for a sequel to further develop Shun, allowing viewers to witness a confident Shun and Mio, a couple who proudly embrace their love without fear or shame.
Snow White With the Red Hair is now streaming on
2015’s “Snow White with the Red Hair” is a criminally overlooked romance anime, offering a fresh take on the classic fairy tale while showcasing one of the most outstanding ensemble casts in any anime series. Despite its fantasy setting, some anime enthusiasts have been reluctant to embrace it. However, the captivating love story between Shirayuki and Prince Zen Wisteria has left fans enthralled and showering the anime with nothing but praise.
In contrast to many anime series of its era, “Snow White with the Red Hair” stands out by not solely focusing on Zen and Shirayuki’s longing for each other throughout the entire series. Instead, the two characters express their feelings for one another early on, allowing the narrative to delve deeper into their relationship development. Remarkably, even within a fantasy setting, the romantic tale between Zen and Shirayuki is remarkably realistic. Their love story doesn’t rush or become an unhealthy obsession; instead, they support each other in their careers and acknowledge that they have individual lives beyond their relationship.
Despite the deepening romantic storyline between Zen and Shirayuki, the series Snow White with the Red Hair concludes rather unexpectedly with an unusual proposal and no resolution. Instead of a satisfying conclusion to their relationship, viewers find themselves disappointed. The strong emotional bond between Shirayuki and Zen is evident throughout the show, making it seem almost unfaithful that they didn’t depict a wedding or some significant event symbolizing their love. Furthermore, the anime neglects the love triangle involving Obi, an ex-assassin, which is present in the manga. A sequel could address these plot oversights and offer fans more of one of the top romance anime duos.
Recovery of an MMO Junkie is now streaming on
Rediscovering the Charm of an Online Gaming Addict
The anime titled “Recovery of an MMO Junkie” offers a lively and humorous take on the romantic comedy genre, yet it carries a surprising depth that resonates with many young professionals grappling with burnout. The protagonist, Moriko “Mori Mori” Morioka, embarks on an authentic journey towards recovery, which mirrors the experiences of numerous individuals in today’s workforce.
The longing for connection portrayed by Mori Mori is strikingly relevant in today’s world, where making new personal connections has become challenging due to the digital age. Despite this, Recovery of an MMO Junkie stands out as a remarkable anime that has been undervalued within the romance community.
As a devoted fan, let me express my disappointment about “Recovery of an MMO Junkie.” Despite Mori Mori forming connections and falling for her gaming buddy, Yuuta Sakurai, the anime abruptly concludes without fully exploring their blossoming romance. Instead of witnessing their courtship unfold with milestone moments, we only see them initiate their romantic journey right at the end of the series. Consequently, the main romantic relationship in “Recovery of an MMO Junkie” lacks depth and progression beyond Mori Mori and Sakurai acknowledging their feelings for each other.
The anime series Recovery of an MMO Junkie stands out as one of the top choices for romance genres. It blends comedic, dramatic, and romantic elements seamlessly, making it engaging for a wide range of viewers. The unique blend of real-world relationships within the virtual game setting adds another layer to its appeal. A longer series would only enhance its charm, allowing fans to witness the evolution of Sakurai and Mori Mori’s relationship over time.
Yona of the Dawn is now streaming on
Fans of anime romance have been eagerly awaiting a sequel for the series titled “Yona of the Dawn“. This less-known show quickly gained popularity due to its distinctive plot and passionate romance. The main character of “Yona of the Dawn“, named Yona, transforms from her pampered lifestyle into a formidable warrior in a traditional storytelling framework with an enchanting touch. The series offers a blend of mystery, political upheaval, and thrilling adventures, complementing its love story and garnering appreciation from various perspectives among fans.
Even though it only has two seasons, the series Yona of the Dawn concludes with a dramatic cliffhanger where Yona encounters her former lover and the man responsible for her father’s death. This intense scenario has left anime enthusiasts pondering for years. A sequel could potentially reveal what occurred between Su-Won and Yona, but it is the absence of Son Hak that fans lament most when discussing Yona of the Dawn.
In simpler terms, Hak is a cherished character in the series “Yona of the Dawn,” who has been a favorite among fans for years due to his charming yet playful demeanor towards Yona. His consistent affection for Yona and some memorable moments from the original anime have earned him a spot among the top male romantic interests in anime. Fans eagerly await a sequel to “Yona of the Dawn” to explore Yona and Su-Won’s relationship further and hopefully see more heartwarming interactions between Hak and Yona.
