5 good Netflix shows like Outer Banks

As someone who has spent countless hours binge-watching and losing myself in the captivating world of television dramas, I must say that if you’re a fan of the Pogues, there are some shows out there that will surely tickle your fancy!

The television show “Outer Banks” has been one of the top teen dramas since it debuted on Netflix in 2020, and it will continue into its fourth season this autumn. Although the exact premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, anticipation for the return of this Netflix original series is at an all-time high.

Everyone is eagerly anticipating the return of Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Jonathan Daviss, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Drew Starkey, and Carlacia Grant to the set of Outer Banks, as they continue their search for a new treasure. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer; while Netflix hasn’t officially announced the release date for season 4, it’s coming soon!

If you’re hooked on “Outer Banks”, you might appreciate alternative series that share similar genres, such as summer, beach, and teen dramas. However, fans of this show crave more than just good vibes. What truly captivates us is the heart-pounding, high-stakes adventure, filled with unexpected twists! It’s not just about romance; it’s about a gripping narrative skillfully woven beneath those enjoyable vibes.

Instead of suggesting typical teen dramas, we deliberately chose Netflix series that share similar aspects with “Outer Banks” from other shows. This way, you’ll find a fresh list of shows that cater to your taste.

Let’s get the list started with Netflix’s most popular teen series!

Stranger Things

Stranger Things is a must-watch for everyone, including Outer Banks fans! It’s one of Netflix’s best shows, but it’s also a show that shares a lot in common with Outer Banks. First of all, Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline each have very minor roles in the first season of Stranger Things, which is cool! More than that, though, Stranger Things focuses on a group of kids just getting stuff done, even when the adults in the room won’t believe them.

That’s how the season stars anyway! It transforms as the show goes on, much like Outer Banks.

1980s-set show chronicles the search for a missing boy, Will Byers (portrayed by Noah Schnapp), in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. As local law enforcement struggle to locate Will, his friends and relatives step up, taking action into their hands. Concurrently, the appearance of a mysterious girl, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), hints at supernatural elements in the investigation.

A diverse ensemble, including David Harbour, Joe Keery, Winona Ryder, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, Priah Ferguson, Joseph Quinn, Dacre Montgomery, and others, shine in the popular Netflix series.

Lupin

It might appear unusual, but Lupin shares a striking resemblance with Outer Banks in terms of its heist-centric plot. The Pogues, just like Assane Diop (Omar Sy), the French thief inspired by Arsène Lupin, are always hatching schemes to deceive, cheat, and swindle their way to what they desire.

If you’re a fan of intricate heists, clever disguises, and enchanting TV storytelling, you’ll definitely enjoy “Lupin”. While it’s true that the heists and criminal activities Assane engages in are more complex than what the Pogues are capable of, remember that everyone has to start somewhere on their path of crime and adventure.

There are three seasons of Lupin on Netflix. We’re hoping for a Lupin season 4!

Bloodline

If members of The Pogues had been a single family and spent their childhood in a resort hotel located in the Florida Keys, the narrative that would unfold is remarkably similar to that of ‘Bloodline’. This engrossing series boasts an exceptional ensemble cast, offers breathtaking scenery, and delves into a poignant narrative.

Upon the return of Danny, the prodigal brother with a checkered past, chaos ensues for the Rayburns – a once modest Florida Keys family who now run a thriving resort empire.

For a period of three seasons, spanning from 2015 to 2017, the captivating Netflix series titled “Bloodline” graced our screens. This engaging production features an impressive ensemble cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Norbert Leo Butz, Jacinda Barrett, Sissy Spacek, Sam Shepard, and many others.

Ginny and Georgia

In the fictional world of Ginny and Georgia, if one member of The Pogues had grown older, started a family, encountered some challenging situations that might have required taking lives, then that character could closely resemble Georgia (played by Brianne Howery). This intriguing backstory unfolds across two seasons, which are currently streaming on Netflix.

Antonia Gentry plays the role of Ginny, Georgia’s daughter, navigating the challenges of high school life in a fresh environment.

Among Netflix’s longest-running hit shows, “Ginny & Georgia” has been confirmed for both a third and fourth installment. Expected to stream on Netflix in 2025, the third season is now being produced, with work progressing as of August 2024.

Berlin

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the latest thriller series on Netflix – “Berlin”! It’s an intriguing spin-off from the popular Spanish series, “Money Heist,” another show that truly captivated me. However, if you’re a fan of the laid-back vibe in “Outer Banks,” you might find “Berlin” a tad more intense than what you’re used to. But for those who crave high-stakes heists and nail-biting suspense, it’s definitely worth checking out!

In the shoes of a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “I find myself immersed in the tale of a character named Berlin (Pedro Alonso), who orchestrates an intricate jewelry heist in the city of lights, Paris. This crew we’ve assembled is nothing short of skilled masters, but their emotions often get the better of them. Will our tumultuous pasts come back to haunt us?”

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to announce that Begoña Vargas, Samantha Siqueiros, Tristán Ulloa, Michelle Jenner, and Julio Peña Fernández are set to return for season 2 of the captivating Netflix original series, Berlin. The anticipation is real as production on this highly-anticipated sequel has officially begun!

That’s the list of five good shows you should watch if you’re a fan of the Pogues!
