Regardless of whether you’re craving something fresh or eagerly awaiting the comeback of your favorite shows, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. However, not everything is making a comeback just yet. The CBS dramas have been delayed until October, but there are still some intriguing new additions waiting in the wings.

5 must-watch crime dramas to watch in September 2024

Having spent years immersed in the world of drama, I can confidently say that organizing a list based on release date is the most practical approach. After all, predicting the outcome of dramas is like trying to foretell the future – it’s simply impossible to accurately rank them before they’ve even premiered! However, the thrill of witnessing new productions hit the screen and seeing familiar faces return to our favorite series never fades.

Moonflower Murders

On September 15th, Sundays on PBS, we’re eagerly anticipating the debut of a show that has captured our attention. This series is based on a book by Anthony Horowitz and shares the same title. It chronicles the life of Susan Ryeland, who manages a hotel in Crete that’s facing hard times.

As it transpires, she possesses a past client named Alan Conway, a writer of mysteries, who utilized an unsolved case from the past in one of his novels. Presently, her assignment is to unravel the true case that served as the basis for this written work.

Matlock

I’m excited to share that CBS has a unique premiere scheduled for September, specifically on Sunday, Sept 22nd. The rest of the season won’t debut until October. This extraordinary event is centered around the much-anticipated return of Matlock, the captivating Kathy Bates series, which was initially slated for the 2023–2024 TV season but will be gracing our screens a bit earlier than expected!

In essence, what we have here is a re-imagining or revival of sorts. The Matlock you’ve grown fond of is actually a character within this new show. It revolves around an elderly woman who demonstrates that age should not be underestimated. And if anyone does, they will surely find themselves on the receiving end of her sharp wit and cunning mind.

Murder in a Small Town

As a gaming enthusiast, if you’re a fan of Kristin Kreuk like I am, don’t miss out on the upcoming Canadian crime drama gracing Fox this autumn! Titled “Murder in a Small Town”, it’s set to premiere on Tuesday, Sept 24. In this gripping tale, Karl Alberg, who yearns for a laid-back lifestyle, moves to Gibsons – a picturesque coastal town that seems too good to be true. But as the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that serene small towns harbor hidden secrets, and it takes the keen detective skills of a global sleuth to uncover them!

As an avid reader and fan, I’d like to share that this captivating series draws its inspiration from the mesmerizing novels penned by L.R. Wright, specifically the Karl Alberg books. In this engaging storyline, I find myself immersed as the character Kreuk brings to life Cassandra – a charming local librarian who adds an intriguing romantic dimension to the narrative surrounding Karl Alberg.
