5 characters who could die in The Boys season 4 finale
As a dedicated fan of The Boys, I have witnessed countless moments of violence and death throughout the series. From minor characters to major players, it seems that no one is safe from the brutal world of this show. With season 4 nearing its conclusion, there are several characters whose fates remain uncertain.
In The Boys, both major and minor characters, some with superpowers and others not, have unfortunately met their ends through violence and death. From one-time appearances like Webweaver to long-standing characters like the original Black Noir, there has been no shortage of fatalities throughout the series.
As we approach the end of season 4, many pivotal storylines are unfolding. For instance, the Boys are making efforts to thwart an assassination plan against the President, which is bound to create tension. The latest episode, titled “The Insider,” ended on a cliffhanger with numerous unanswered questions and several characters seemingly in danger.
Many characters from superheroes, politics, and the Boys herself could potentially meet their end by the finale of season 4.
Victoria Neuman
An obvious choice for their objective this season has been eliminating Vice President Victoria Neuman, an attempt that hasn’t been successful yet. But with the recently developed supe-killing virus by Frenchie and Sameer, there might be a new opportunity for the Boys to make another attempt against Neuman.
If I were a fan, I’d express it like this: With her significant role in the show and numerous enemies gunning for her, such as The Boys, the CIA, and even Homelander, it wouldn’t shock me if Victoria didn’t make it to the end of the season.
It’s possible that doubt would arise if she was eliminated, given how commonplace such an event might be for the series. Nevertheless, with Homelander planning a revolution against the government and the Boys determined to bring her down, it appears that Neuman’s time is running out.
Starlight
As a devoted fan, I’d express it this way: Since the inception of the series, Starlight has been a significant character. With dreams of donning the cape as a superhero and earning a spot among the Seven, she made some formidable adversaries by departing from Vought and aligning herself with The Boys. Now, she’s the public figurehead for the anti-Vought and anti-Homelander resistance. This role has undeniably placed a colossal bullseye on her back.
As Homelander’s behavior grows increasingly erratic in the show, following the deception of A-Train and the departure of his trusted confidant, Sister Sage, there is a strong possibility that Homelander may respond by actively seeking out and eliminating those who have crossed him.
At the end of “The Insider,” Starlight finds herself in peril due to being swapped out for a shape-shifter. By the story’s close, Starlight is bound at the wrists to the ground in an undisclosed place, leaving her identity a secret from all.
A-Train
Previously part of The Seven with a large bullseye on his back this season is A-Train. Though hints of A-Train ultimately siding against Homelander and Vought have emerged in earlier seasons, he has definitively joined The Boys’ camp this time around.
A-Train has been secretly collaborating with Mother’s Milk throughout this season, passing on vital information to The Boys to aid them in their mission against Vought. Despite the potential danger to himself, A-Train appears sincere in his desire for a fresh start, going so far as to save Hughie and Mother’s Milk in separate episodes.
In the last episode, he had his chance to shine when he stepped in to help Starlight and The Butcher versus The Deep and Black Noir II. By doing so, he exposed himself as the person Vought had been frantically searching for, who had been leaking their information.
As a longtime fan of superhero stories, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed with the way the character of A-Train was written out of the show. In the final episode, he managed to save the Boys from being apprehended by the Supes, and it appeared as though he had gotten away with it all, escaping any punishment by removing his tracking chip and fleeing with his family. However, this resolution seemed rather anticlimactic to me.
According to his chat with Mother’s Milk, A-Train relishes playing the role of a true hero and intends to keep fighting against Vought until their objective is accomplished. However, this determination might put him in a clash with his ex-teammate Homelander, an encounter that could potentially turn out unfavorably for A-Train.
Homelander
In contrast to how things unfolded in the comics, it’s unlikely that Homelander will stage a takeover at the White House in the show. Instead, Butcher is driven by a desire to develop a lethal virus against Homelander. As the story progresses and culminates in a face-off between these two characters, along with Ryan, there’s a strong possibility that either Butcher or Ryan will put an end to Homelander’s tyranny before he manages to implement his scheme for enslaving people and seizing control of the government.
After the next episode, if Homelander meets his surprising end in the fourth season, the show could shift its attention to Butcher’s character change and mirror the comic’s plot with an intense confrontation between Butcher and The Boys.
Billy Butcher
As a dedicated gamer following the Butcher saga, I’ve witnessed his downward spiral firsthand, both mentally and physically. The storyline has left no doubt that Butcher’s days are numbered – the repercussions of last season’s Compound V intake have reduced his life expectancy to a mere six months.
It appears that Butcher’s health has been deteriorating throughout the season, marked by episodes of fainting, hallucinations of past acquaintances, and bodily strife. The latest installment concluded with Butcher collapsing in a tavern, raising concerns that his tumor may have overtaken him, bringing an end to his tenure as the Boys’ leader.
As a devoted fan, I ponder over the possibility that this blackout might signify Butcher’s demise in the season finale. Yet, an alternative scenario unfolds where Butcher faces Homelander in a climactic showdown, risking his life to shield Ryan. In this instance, Butcher could miraculously survive and become a pivotal figure in the upcoming season. However, given his precarious state and the time-sensitive nature of the current storyline, it wouldn’t be shocking if the next episode marked Butcher’s last stand.
