With so many streaming services available, there are tons of movies to choose from. And with new titles being added all the time, it can be tough to decide what’s actually worth watching.
We’ve checked out the latest movies on streaming services like Netflix and BBC iPlayer, so you don’t have to! This weekend, you can enjoy some top picks, including Tom Hardy’s best-reviewed movie and a beloved British independent film.
Here are five of the best, plus a few other great movies to add to your watchlists.

Best movie new to Netflix this week
The movie Argo is a true story about a CIA agent who comes up with a daring plan to save six American diplomats trapped in Iran during the 1979 hostage crisis. He pretends to be a filmmaker, using a fake movie production as a cover for the rescue mission.
This gripping and enjoyable movie, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, took home the Best Picture Oscar in 2013. Interestingly, Affleck wasn’t nominated for the Best Director award, which caused some debate. The film also features strong performances from Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, and John Goodman.
This week on Netflix, you can also watch these titles: A History of Violence, Sully, Scarface, The Dark Knight trilogy, and Game Night.

Best movie new to Prime Video this week
Many consider Mad Max: Fury Road to be one of the best action films in years. It’s also Tom Hardy’s highest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes – earning a 97% ‘Fresh’ rating – if you don’t include the documentary he narrated, From the Ashes.
In the 2015 film, Tom Hardy plays the main character who unexpectedly joins forces with Charlize Theron’s character, Imperator Furiosa. Together, they help Immortan Joe’s wives escape from his fortress, the Citadel. As Flavorwire put it, Fury Road is a non-stop, high-energy thrill ride – buckle up!
Here’s what’s new on Prime Video this week: Heat, John Wick, Ad Astra, Twilight, The Long Walk, Schindler’s List, and Birds of Prey.

Best movie new to BBC iPlayer this week
I recently watched 1917, and it’s intense! It follows these two British soldiers, played by George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman, who have to run across this crazy, dangerous battlefield – basically No Man’s Land – to deliver a message. The whole point is to call off an attack that’s almost guaranteed to fail, and the movie puts you right there with them as they try to make it.
The film stars Andrew Scott, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Colin Firth, and is famous for being filmed in a single, continuous shot. Subculture Entertainment praised it as “one of those films that leaves you in complete stunned silence as you watch it.”
Also new to BBC iPlayer this week: Mud, Waves, The Silence of the Lambs, Point Break (1991)

Best movie new to ITVX this week
Many still consider Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight the strongest film in the Batman trilogy. A major reason is Heath Ledger’s unforgettable portrayal of the Joker, which won him an Oscar after his death. Released in 2008, the movie shows Batman battling the notorious Joker, who tries to push Bruce Wayne’s limits as he attempts to protect Gotham City.
Okay, so everyone’s raving about this movie – Rotten Tomatoes has it at a crazy 94%! They’re saying it’s really dark, complex, and sticks with you after you watch it. If you want to refresh your memory, or you’re new to the series, you can actually stream Batman Begins on ITVX beforehand. It’s a good way to get prepped!
Also new to ITVX this week: Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Hairspray (2007), License to Kill

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week
Before becoming well-known faces on British television, Stephen Graham and Vicky McClure first gained recognition in this acclaimed 2006 drama by Shane Meadows. The film proved so popular it led to three follow-up TV series.
This film, set in the early 1980s, centers on Shaun, a young boy who finds acceptance and joins a group of skinheads. His life takes a troubling turn when he becomes friends with Combo, a recently released prisoner with racist views. Joe Gilgun and Jack O’Connell also appear in the movie.
This week, Channel 4 is adding some great movies and shows, including Attack the Block, The Martian, Trainspotting, Dazed and Confused, and Polite Society.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a beautiful 100-page, full-color tribute to Sir David Attenborough, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or purchase it online.
