Best movie new to Netflix this week
If you enjoy the quirky and visually striking films of Wes Anderson, especially those with great actors – and let’s be honest, most of them do – then The Grand Budapest Hotel from 2014 is a perfect choice.
I absolutely loved The Grand Budapest Hotel! It’s about this amazing, quirky hotel concierge named Gustave H, played by Ralph Fiennes, who gets caught up in a murder mystery. He and his young assistant go on this wild adventure trying to clear his name and find a fortune, plus a beautiful Renaissance painting. It all happens in this wonderfully imagined country called Zubrowka, and you can really feel this sense of danger as things are changing with the rise of fascism. It’s such a fun, but also surprisingly moving, film!
With a stellar 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Loud and Clear Reviews highlighted the film’s striking visuals and engaging story. The movie features performances by Saoirse Ronan, Tony Revolori, Tilda Swinton, and Adrien Brody.

Best movie new to Prime Video this week
Widely considered a ’90s classic and one of the greatest films ever made, Pulp Fiction features four connected stories set in Los Angeles. It’s packed with memorable scenes – the diner dance between John Travolta and Uma Thurman being a prime example.
Critics have praised the Quentin Tarantino film, with FandomWire calling it a uniquely original and influential work, and ScreenRant describing it as a thrilling experience.
John Travolta appears with Samuel L. Jackson, Harvey Keitel, Bruce Willis, Amanda Plummer, and Christopher Walken in a film that significantly changed the direction of his career.
This week on Prime Video, you can also enjoy these movies: Bend It Like Beckham, Snatch, the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice, A Beautiful Mind, Scent of a Woman, and Erin Brockovich.

Best movie new to BBC iPlayer this week
I absolutely loved Past Lives! It’s a beautiful romantic drama from 2023, written and directed by Celine Song. Greta Lee and Teo Yoo give incredible performances – they really carry the whole movie, and it’s been getting amazing reviews, deservedly so.
The story centers on Nora and Hae Sung, two friends separated when Nora moves from South Korea to Canada as a child. Years later, they find each other again online, and eventually, Hae Sung travels to New York to reconnect with Nora, where they grapple with their lives, what might have been, and the possibility of love.
The film Past Lives received overwhelmingly positive reviews, earning a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Region Free described it as a breathtaking and emotionally resonant experience.

Quentin Tarantino’s 1992 film, Reservoir Dogs, is considered a classic heist drama and launched his career as a director. Empire Magazine even called it “the perfect debut movie.”
Featuring Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, Chris Penn, Michael Madsen, and Lawrence Tierney, Reservoir Dogs tells the story of a diamond robbery gone wrong. When it’s revealed that one of the thieves is an undercover police officer, the group becomes suspicious of each other, and the situation quickly escalates into violence.

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week
In the historical action film The Woman King, Viola Davis plays Nanisca, a general who leads the Agojie – an elite, all-female warrior group. Set in the 19th century, the film follows Nanisca as she prepares a new generation of warriors to defend the Kingdom of Dahomey from those who threaten their existence.
Okay, so I just checked, and The Woman King is getting amazing reviews! It’s at 94% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, which is huge. Little White Lies even said it’s a really fun movie and something special you don’t see often. Sounds like I need to check it out!
Gina Prince-Bythewood directed the film, which stars Lashana Lynch, Thuso Mbedu, Sheila Atim, and John Boyega.
