Take a look below.

Best movie new to Netflix this week

Leonardo DiCaprio earned his first Oscar for his performance in the 2015 film The Revenant. The action drama tells the story of frontiersman Hugh Glass, who must survive after a brutal bear attack and being left for dead by his fellow hunters.

Inspired by Michael Punke’s book, The Revenant stars Tom Hardy (from MobLand), Domhnall Gleeson (The Paper), and Will Poulter (Warfare). Be warned, though – the famous bear attack scene is quite intense and may be difficult to watch for some viewers.

Here’s what’s new on Netflix this week: Love Lies Bleeding, Magic Mike, Top Gun, Anna and the Apocalypse, and Catch Me If You Can.

Best movie new to Prime this week

Jurassic Park is the original blockbuster dinosaur movie, a classic directed by Steven Spielberg. It tells the story of scientists who successfully bring dinosaurs back to life, but their ambitious project goes awry when sabotage unleashes the creatures on the island.

The newspaper Arizona Republic described Jurassic Park as a thrilling, nerve-wracking experience, and many still consider the 1993 film to be the strongest in the series. It stars Sam Neill, known for Peaky Blinders, Laura Dern from Big Little Lies, and Jeff Goldblum, who will soon be seen in Wicked.

Also new to Prime this week: Natural Born Killers, Candyman (2021), Layer Cake, Wind River

Best movie new to BBC iPlayer this week

In the movie Gladiator, Russell Crowe plays a Roman warrior who is betrayed and enslaved. He eventually becomes a gladiator, seeking revenge on the villainous Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix.

As a huge fan, I was so thrilled when Ridley Scott’s epic won five Oscars, including Best Actor for Russell Crowe and, amazingly, Best Picture! Everyone was talking about it, and The Daily Telegraph even called it “monumental movie-making.” They just don’t make films like that very often. I was excited to see the sequel with Paul Mescal last year, but honestly, it didn’t quite live up to the original, though it was still good!

Best movie new to ITVX this week

I absolutely love Cast Away! It came out in 2000 and it’s basically a really updated take on the classic Robinson Crusoe story. Tom Hanks plays a FedEx worker who’s the sole survivor of a plane crash and ends up completely alone on a deserted island. It’s amazing watching him figure out how to survive and make the best of a terrible situation.

Though often remembered for the iconic scene with Wilson the volleyball – a companion to Tom Hanks’ character, Chuck – Cast Away received an Academy Award nomination for Hanks’ performance. Common Sense Media described the film as strong, intense, and thoughtfully made.

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week

Widely considered the greatest action and war movie ever made – according to The GuardianApocalypse Now features Martin Sheen as a captain tasked with finding and eliminating a renegade officer (Marlon Brando).

This intense war film draws inspiration from Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and vividly portrays the brutal realities of the Vietnam War. It’s famous for its powerful imagery, including a particularly striking and frightening napalm attack scored with Wagner’s ‘Ride of the Valkyries’. The film also features strong performances from Robert Duvall (known for The Godfather), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix), and Dennis Hopper (Blue Velvet).

Also new to Channel 4 this week: Home Alone, Violent Night, This Is England

Okay, so the latest issue of Living Legends just dropped, and it’s all about Dolly Parton! I just grabbed my copy – you can find ‘Dolly at 80’ at all good newsagents or online, and it only costs £8.99. Definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan!
