Close friends and Academy Award winners Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are reuniting on screen for a new action film called The Rip, coming to Netflix.
The new film by Joe Carnahan, added to the streaming service today, January 16th, centers around two Miami police officers, Lieutenant Dane Dumars (played by Damon) and DS JD Byrne (played by Affleck). They stumble upon millions of dollars in cash, and their commitment to each other is challenged when others find out about the money.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are working with well-known actors like Steven Yeun from The Walking Dead and Teyana Taylor, who recently won a Golden Globe for her work in One Battle After Another.

Best movie new to Prime Video this week
There’s nothing quite like a good murder mystery for a cosy night in, and the first Knives Out film delivers exactly that. It’s full of great acting and a clever, intricate plot that will keep you guessing.
I was totally hooked by Rian Johnson’s movie from 2019! It’s where we first met Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig – a brilliant detective with a charming Southern accent. The story kicks off when a famous mystery writer dies, and Blanc is brought in to figure out if it was really a suicide.
Following his films Glass Onion (2022) and the recent Wake Up Dead Man, director Rian Johnson’s debut mystery—praised by Rolling Stone as “terrific”—features a large cast including Ana de Armas, Christopher Plummer, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Toni Collette.
Also new on Prime Video this week: Ballerina, The Death of Stalin, 10 Things I Hate About You, Borat.

Prepare for the new movie, 28 Years Later: Bone Temple, by revisiting the original film – described by Sight & Sound as thrillingly intense and powerfully gripping – that launched the series.
In Danny Boyle’s 2002 film, 28 Days Later, Cillian Murphy plays Jim, a bicycle messenger who wakes up from a coma to discover a virus has spread, turning people into aggressive attackers.
Written by the creator of Ex Machina, Alex Garland, this film feels reminiscent of the work of horror legend George A. Romero. It features striking images of an empty central London – a sight you’re more likely to see than an actual zombie outbreak.
Also new on iPlayer this week: Saving Private Ryan, The Duke.

Best movie new to ITVX this week
The classic James Bond film From Russia with Love, originally released in 1963, is now available to stream on ITVX.
Praised as a standout film in the James Bond series (according to Empire), this movie marks Sean Connery’s return as 007 after Dr. No in 1962. He’s assigned the mission of helping Tatiana Romanova (played by Daniela Bianchi), a Soviet consulate worker, defect to the West.
Directed by Terence Young and adapted from Ian Fleming’s novel, the film shows Bond on high alert, as the criminal organization SPECTRE plots revenge for the death of Dr. No.
Also new to ITVX this week: Anchorman, Big.

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week
Steve McQueen, a British director, turned Solomon Northup’s 1853 autobiography into a critically acclaimed and award-winning film featuring a talented cast.
The film 12 Years a Slave stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup, telling the story of his abduction in Washington D.C. and the twelve years he spent enslaved on a Louisiana plantation.
The film features a stunning breakout performance by Lupita Nyong’o, which won her an Academy Award. It’s critically acclaimed, boasting a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Little White Lies praised it as a powerful and artistic look at American slavery.
Also new to Channel 4 this week: Mean Streets, Pearl, A Most Wanted Man, Heat.

The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops or order it online for only £8.99.
