Best movie new to Netflix this week

The recent film I Swear was a success at the BAFTAs last month, and Robert Aramayo surprised many by winning Best Actor. He beat out more famous actors with his compelling performance as John Davidson.

The movie tells the story of a person living with Tourette syndrome, a condition that causes involuntary tics – sudden sounds or movements. It focuses on their personal challenges and their later efforts to raise understanding and support for others with the condition.

Based on 40 reviews, Digital Spy gave I Swear a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, describing it as a film that is both funny and deeply moving, but ultimately leaves you feeling good.

Often hailed as a cinematic masterpiece, The Godfather is a 1972 film that tells the story of the Corleone family, a powerful mafia dynasty. It follows Michael (Al Pacino), who unexpectedly steps up to lead the family as his father, Vito (Marlon Brando), gets older.

Based on Mario Puzo’s novel, The Godfather is widely considered a landmark film in American cinema. Rotten Tomatoes praised it for setting a new standard, and it was followed by two sequels, with many believing the first sequel matched or even surpassed the original in quality.

Francis Ford Coppola directed the film, which features performances by James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, John Cazale, and Richard S. Castellano.

I’m so excited to see what’s new on Prime Video this week! They’ve added a bunch of great movies, including The Cabin in the Woods, Inside Man (the 2006 one!), Shutter Island, Top Gun, Ma, and Super 8. Definitely have some good viewing options now!

Best movie new to BBC iPlayer this week

I just finished watching The End We Start From, and honestly, it really threw me for a loop! Empire magazine called it unpredictable, which is totally right. What really got to me were the emotional scenes – Jodie Comer is incredible in it, she just carries so much weight in those moments.

I just watched this amazing movie set in a future London that’s been completely flooded – it’s a real ecological disaster zone. The story follows a mother desperately trying to get back home with her newborn baby, and it’s incredibly moving and suspenseful. It’s a really powerful story about survival and love in the face of a devastated world.

Mahalia Belo’s 2023 film, adapted from Megan Hunter’s novel of the same name, features a supporting cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Katherine Waterston, and Mark Strong.

Looking for a thought-provoking thriller? The 2002 Steven Spielberg film, Minority Report, is now available on ITVX.

In the futuristic thriller Minority Report, Tom Cruise plays a police officer in 2054 Washington D.C. The department uses advanced technology to stop crimes before they happen. But when the officer, John Anderton, is predicted to commit a future murder, he’s forced to go on the run to prove his innocence.

The Blu Spot called the movie captivating, and it has an 89% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week

Released in 2022, Everything Everywhere All At Once was a surprisingly successful independent film that went on to win seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh.

The film centers around Evelyn Quan Wang, a laundromat owner who unexpectedly gets pulled into a wild adventure across multiple universes. She must find a way to stop a dangerous force from destroying everything, all while dealing with a stressful IRS audit.

The Daniels’ film, which delves into the experiences of immigrants and LGBTQ+ individuals, was praised by The Asian Cut as a wildly imaginative, funny, and deeply moving story.

I’m so excited to see what Channel 4 is adding this week! They’re including some really great films – I’ve been wanting to watch Minari and The Quiet Girl for ages, and I’ve heard amazing things about The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Plus, classics like Erin Brockovich and The Father are always a good watch!

Okay, so the new issue of Living Legends just dropped, and it’s all about Harry Styles! It’s a full-color magazine with 100 pages dedicated to him. I grabbed my copy at a newsstand, but you can also order it online if you want!
