Prime Video has become a strong source of original TV shows, offering many popular hits. However, four series, in particular, don’t get the attention they deserve. Though it wasn’t one of the first streaming services, Prime Video has proven itself as a creator of quality content.
Their TV shows are often consistently excellent, a remarkable achievement. They’re especially well-known for strong crime and comedy content. Despite this success, they still produce some hidden gems that don’t get as much attention.
There are four fantastic TV shows available on Prime Video that deserve more attention. If you’re searching for something fresh to watch, these hidden gems are definitely worth a look.
4. Étoile
Perfect For Fans Of Gilmore Girls & Bunheads

Amy Sherman-Palladino, known for creating beloved shows like Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, delivers another strong performance with Prime Video’s Étoile. While the first couple of episodes take their time getting started, the show quickly becomes fantastic. It’s surprising, then, that Étoile hasn’t received much attention.
The series centers around two ballet companies facing financial difficulties. In a bold attempt to attract larger audiences, they swap their star performers for a year, hoping to breathe new life into their performances. The innovative, yet quirky choreographer, Tobias, and the talented ballerina, Misha, are transferred to Paris, while the demanding ballerina, Cheyenne, heads to New York City.
Ballet fans won’t want to miss Étoile, a show that gives a behind-the-scenes look at the dedication and effort it takes to put on a ballet performance. It’s also surprisingly charming and funny, with a similar vibe to Gilmore Girls, making it enjoyable even for those who don’t typically watch dance shows.
3. The Devil’s Hour
Perfect For Fans Of Dark, Bodies, & Orphan Black

The British thriller The Devil’s Hour is a fantastic show that doesn’t get nearly enough attention. Viewers generally love it, based on reviews and ratings, but it remains largely unknown, and many potential fans haven’t even heard of it.
It’s tricky to explain the show without giving away any surprises, so I’ll be careful with details. Essentially, it centers around a woman named Lucy who consistently wakes up at 3:33 AM, during what’s known as the ‘devil’s hour’ – the time between 3 and 4 AM.
She’s plagued by terrifying visions and a constant sense of déjà vu, leading her to doubt her own mind. Her story becomes dangerously intertwined with a killer named Gideon, portrayed by Peter Capaldi. This show is incredibly complex and captivating – it’s surprising more people aren’t talking about it.
Good news for fans of The Devil’s Hour: Season 3 is confirmed and has already been filmed! We’ll find out when it will be released soon.
2. Dead Ringers
Perfect For Fans Of Dexter, Hannibal, & Malignant

Rachel Weisz delivers a stunning performance in the psychological thriller Dead Ringers, a show that mixes unsettling body horror with the intense world of medicine. What makes her role particularly impressive is that she plays both twin gynecologists, Elliot and Beverly Mantle – sisters with very different personalities. It’s a challenging feat to act opposite yourself for half the scenes, and Weisz handles it flawlessly.
Even the unique concept of Dead Ringers deserved more attention. Beyond that, the story itself is compelling: it centers on identical twin gynecologists striving to change how babies are made and delivered. But their ambitious efforts soon take a troubling turn, leading them down a path of questionable ethics.
You might recognize this story – it’s based on the movie of the same name by David Cronenberg. However, this version is quite different, as it’s been created, written, and produced by a team of women. Notably, the main characters, Eliot and Beverly, are now women instead of men.
This version tells the same story in a new way, letting the show explore ideas that were only briefly mentioned before. It also includes some unexpected and welcome changes that will feel exciting for fans of the original Cronenberg film.
1. Vox Machina
Perfect For Fans Of The Dragon Prince, Avatar: The Last Airbender, & Arcane

Vox Machina is an animated Dungeons & Dragons show known for its great visuals and funny characters. It’s based on the first story arc from the web series Critical Role, and follows eight mismatched heroes as they work together to protect the world of Exandria from evil.
People who love Dungeons & Dragons might be a little surprised to see Vox Machina included here. While it’s very popular among fans of the game, it doesn’t get nearly as much attention as other comparable TV shows and movies.
I’ve been hearing a lot about Arcane, and it’s amazing how popular it’s become! It’s an animated show for adults built around the world of League of Legends, kind of like Vox Machina is for Dungeons & Dragons. But while Vox Machina has a dedicated fanbase, Arcane has really broken through to become a huge hit with everyone – it’s become a real cultural phenomenon.
Both the movie Honor Among Thieves and the TV show Delicious in Dungeon, inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, have become popular with viewers who aren’t familiar with the game. However, Vox Machina hasn’t achieved the same level of success. Hopefully, The Mighty Nein on Prime Video, which is based on the second campaign of Critical Role, will be much more well-received.
