4 Netflix shows from 2024 that shouldn't have happened

As a gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating through the labyrinth of television shows and series, I must confess that sometimes, I find myself questioning the sanity of the decision-makers in Hollywood. And let me tell you, 2024 was no exception to this rule. Here are four Netflix shows from that year that, in my humble opinion, should have never seen the light of day.

Occasionally, it seems inexplicable to us viewers that certain television series are produced and broadcasted, leaving us questioning the approval process. Particularly considering the hurdles writers, producers, and their teams must overcome just to secure a season order. Yet, unfortunately, sometimes poor quality TV shows do make it onto our screens, and we endure them. Here are four Netflix shows from 2024 that left us scratching our heads as to why they were created.

Unstable season 2

To put it simply, the show wasn’t very amusing from the start, and I personally found it quite dull. Given my admiration for Rob Lowe, I was looking forward to this production, more so because he stars alongside his real-life son. However, it fell short of expectations and didn’t strike a chord with viewers. It comes as no surprise that Netflix decided to cancel it.

That ’90s Show season 2

The initial season of “That ’90s Show,” a spinoff from “That ’70s Show,” wasn’t terrible as a sequel series, though it didn’t quite measure up to its predecessor. However, I can’t say the same for season 2 of “That ’90s Show.” It lacked the authentic ’90s vibe, and the humor felt too predictable and unfunny. Watching it wasn’t enjoyable at all. Unfortunately, Netflix has decided to cancel the series.

The Perfect Couple

While many viewers seemed to enjoy “The Perfect Couple,” I personally didn’t find it particularly appealing overall. Unfortunately, despite its talented cast, the storyline didn’t resonate with me. There were numerous plot points that didn’t seem integral to the murder mystery and felt excessive. The resolution also appeared hasty. After so much time spent on Amelia’s investigation into her best friend’s death, her response to the revelation was disappointingly muted. I believe the show could have been improved with a more streamlined narrative and less extraneous information in its script. Given that it’s a limited series, a second season is unlikely.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story

The first season of the show delved into Jeffrey Dahmer’s story, while the second focused on the Menendez Brothers. It seems that society has an intrigue towards murder mysteries, perhaps due to our quest to comprehend such heinous acts. However, I question whether these stories about the killers are essential. In my opinion, I felt the TV adaptation for season 2 was problematic because Ryan Murphy presented various theories, including the perspectives of Lyle and Erik Menendez. This made the narrative a bit muddled if you didn’t have additional explanations. Frankly, I believe we’ve had enough media coverage on these cases in the form of shows, movies, and documentaries. Netflix has announced another season of Monsters, this time featuring Charlie Hunnam as Ed Gein for a third season.
