4 Hulu and FX shows from 2024 that didn’t meet our expectations
As a gamer who’s been binge-watching shows for over two decades, I’ve seen my fair share of hits and misses. The year 2024 wasn’t an exception, with some fantastic series gracing our screens, but also some that left us scratching our heads in disbelief. Here are four Hulu and FX shows from 2024 that didn’t live up to the hype for me.
2024 saw a plethora of television series emerge across various streaming platforms like Hulu and FX, with some truly captivating fan-favorites making an appearance. However, as with any abundance of options, there were also shows that fell short of our expectations. Here are four Hulu and FX series from 2024 that didn’t quite live up to the hype.
The Veil
Elisabeth Moss has done an outstanding job in “The Handmaid’s Tale” and other roles, but I found “The Veil” on Hulu disappointing as a viewing experience. Despite the actress’s excellent performance, the storyline didn’t appeal to me. The show is advertised as a spy thriller, focusing on action and chases, but that’s not what you’ll find here. I believe it was this misalignment between my expectations (based on the trailer) and the actual content that left me unimpressed. At present, the series has neither been renewed nor cancelled.
Grotesquerie
To be completely honest, I find myself struggling to understand why some people stuck with “Grotesquerie” past the initial episodes. Personally, it didn’t capture my interest, and I felt that Ryan Murphy might be running low on fresh ideas. The series seemed overly reliant on familiar themes such as mischievous priests and nuns, which felt repetitive to me.
American Horror Stories season 3 part 2
It’s no wonder that another selection from our list is yet another Ryan Murphy production – “American Horror Stories” season 3 part 2 was included in Hulu’s ‘Huluween Event’ this year. However, the most chilling aspect of it all is that we had to endure watching it. In truth, it was quite dull and the element of shock typically associated with a horror series was noticeably absent. Whether you’ve seen it or not, my advice would be to save yourself the time and give this one a miss. It’s also worth noting that this franchise has run its course and no longer carries the impact it once did.
Death and Other Details
I enjoy shows that involve solving mysteries alongside the characters, keeping guesses about the killer fresh until the end. Unfortunately, Hulu’s Death and Other Details fell short of my expectations. The numerous characters were hard to keep track of, conversations dragged on excessively, and as it progressed, the mystery became less engaging. Despite initial excitement, the series ultimately failed to deliver, leading to its cancellation.
