Following the huge success of Crave’s passionate and forbidden love story, Heated Rivalry – featuring hockey players Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander – Prime Video has jumped on board with a similar series created by Louisa Levy.

Prime Video’s gamble with the show Off Campus has proven successful. Just one day after its release on May 13th, it reached the top of the charts worldwide, according to Flixpatrol. The show quickly became the most-watched program globally and has remained in the top two spots in nearly every country, including the U.S. This pushed The Boys down to second place globally, just four days before its season finale on May 20th.

Off Campus Adds Another Layer To Heated Rivalry’s Core Idea

The new series, Off Campus, aims to attract a wider audience by pairing characters with contrasting backgrounds. Ella Bright stars as Hannah Wells, a music student at Briar University, and she begins tutoring Garrett Graham, the captain of the college hockey team, played by Belmont Cameli.

Hannah isn’t helping Garrett just to be nice. She’s hoping to make Justin Kohl jealous, so she pretends to date Garrett. But as they act like a couple, real feelings start to develop. Ella Bright is known for her role in the CBBC series Malory Towers, which earned her two Children & Family Emmy nominations and a Children’s BAFTA nomination. Meanwhile, Cameli appeared in the Saved By The Bell reboot and played Eli in the Netflix movie Along for the Ride.

The pairing of a musician and a hockey player is designed to appeal to a broad audience, attracting fans of romance, sports, and music. The show utilizes the popular ‘fake romance’ storyline, which, when done effectively, creates intense anticipation and makes the eventual reveal of true feelings incredibly satisfying.

Will There Be Off Campus Season 2?

The show Off Campus is based on The Deal by Elle Kennedy, the first installment in the Off Campus book series. It’s been a hit with both viewers and critics, earning a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.3/10 on IMDb.

Even before the first season was released, many believed the show would be a hit. Although it hasn’t been officially announced, the storyline suggests the next season will be based on the second book in the series, called The Mistake. We can expect a new romance, featuring college junior and hockey player John Logan falling for freshman Grace Ivers, though he struggles with letting her in. India Fowler will play the role of Grace.
