4 best shows to watch on streaming this week (Dec. 9 – Dec. 15, 2024)
As a binge-watching aficionado with over two decades of TV-viewing under my belt, I must say that this week is shaping up to be a veritable feast for our collective eyes and minds! The digital age has truly revolutionized the way we consume entertainment, and it’s a joy to see so many quality shows being released back-to-back without those pesky commercial breaks.
This week marks the beginning of fresh, exciting days! That means returning to some beloved series and even catching premieres too. One advantage of streaming is its flexibility compared to traditional broadcasting schedules. Typically, you won’t find any extended gaps between new episodes – if there are, they usually last only a week or two at most.
This week offers a variety of choices such as the second seasons of “Shrinking” and “Bad Sisters”, the movies “Dune: Prophecy”, “Silo”, “Landman”, returning episodes of “Yellowstone” (season 5) and “Outlander” (season 7). Don’t forget to catch the series finale of “What We Do in the Shadows” as well as the season finale of “The Day of the Jackal”.
We’re concentrating on the exciting new series arriving in the upcoming days, as there’s something captivating about fresh content. Here are four top-notch shows premiering on streaming platforms from December 9th to December 15th, 2024. Enjoy exploring the new!
Queer Eye season 9 on Netflix
Premieres Wednesday, Dec. 11. 2024
We’re thrilled for the return of Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and Jonathan Van Ness, along with new addition Jeremiah Brent, forming the legendary quintet in Queer Eye season 9. This time, they’ll be stationed in Las Vegas to bring about remarkable transformations for some individuals. The synopsis hints at a “confidence-seeking former showgirl” and a “librarian yearning for change.” In all, there are 10 episodes to anticipate, which will be available on Netflix on the premiere date.
No Good Deed on Netflix
Premieres Thursday, Dec. 12
In the upcoming dark comedy titled “No Good Deed“, we’ll unravel the mystery surrounding Lydia and Paul’s household. Some rumors suggest it may have been a crime scene, but we’ll see for sure! The talented Lisa Kudrow portrays Lydia, while Ray Romano takes on the role of Paul. The creators of “Dead to Me” are behind this series, so you can expect a fantastic storyline! Due to its popularity, many families are eager to purchase their house, but what really transpired within those walls remains unknown until the show airs.
The house they’re trying to keep hidden has some mysterious and potentially perilous secrets, as suggested in the storyline. This certainly piques my curiosity! The 8-episode series, featuring Linda Cardellini, O-T Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson, Lisa Kudrow, Denis Leary, Poppy Liu, Teyonah Parris, Ray Romano, and Luke Wilson, will be streamable on Netflix starting December 12.
Paris & Nicole: The Encore on Peacock
Premieres Thursday, Dec. 12
In a nod to the past, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, two unforgettable figures from the 2000s, have reunited for a Peacock special titled “Paris & Nicole: The Encore“. This exciting event includes a total of three episodes, all premiering on the same day. The highlight? A transformation of their popular song, “Sanasa”, into an opera! Don’t miss out on this unique performance as they navigate the process of adapting their tune into this art form, witnessing the build-up, and enjoying the final show itself. Get ready for a trip down memory lane!
Dexter Original Sin on Paramount+ with Showtime
Premieres Friday, Dec. 13
As a devoted Dexter fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as we journey back to the ’90s with the upcoming prequel, “Dexter: Original Sin.” In this gritty origin story, our beloved anti-hero, Dexter, evolves from an innocent student into a ruthless serial killer, all under the watchful guidance of his stepfather, Harry. When Dexter’s inner darkness threatens to consume him, Harry offers a chilling solution: targeting individuals who are beyond redemption and eliminating them from society. Being stationed at Miami Metro Police Department, Harry has the insider knowledge necessary to help Dexter carry out his murders without raising any suspicions. The gripping prequel premieres on Friday, Dec. 13 exclusively on Paramount+ with Showtime tier or Sunday, Dec. 15 at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime television. With a total of 10 episodes, new installments will be released weekly for fans to devour.
