Blade Runner is a hugely influential science fiction series famous for its moody, rain-filled cities, bright neon lights, and constant darkness. It also introduced Joi, a lifelike AI hologram designed to be the ideal companion. A new series expanding the Blade Runner universe is planned for release in 2026.
Titan Comics and Alcon Entertainment will release the first issue of a new Blade Runner comic, Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: To Lose Is To Win, on May 6, 2026. This four-part series continues the story from 2024’s Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: Die in Peace, bringing fans back to the cyberpunk world of Tokyo.
Following their departure from military service, former soldiers Mead and Stix now work as private detectives. This new case finds them investigating mysteries in a futuristic Tokyo, continuing their adventures after leaving their past lives behind.
Blade Runner Claims New Action-Packed Comic Series This Spring
Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: To Lose Is To Win Covers by Junggeun Yoon, Dani and Brad Simpson, Piotr Kowalski, and Mariano Taibo
Kianna Shore and artist Mariano Taibo were the lead creatives behind the 2024 release, Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: Die in Peace. Mariano Taibo is returning for the next installment, Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: To Lose Is To Win, but Nancy A. Collins will be taking over the writing. While fans will be sad to see Shore go, there’s a lot of anticipation to see Collins’ take on the Blade Runner universe.
Okay, so details are still a little hazy, but I can tell you that this new series, To Lose Is To Win, isn’t starting from scratch. It’s a direct continuation of what happened in Die in Peace, and we’re going to be seeing some familiar faces – characters from Mead and Stix’s history are going to reappear. According to the official announcement from Titan Comics and Alcon Entertainment, here’s what the story’s about:
When Uldren learns that Mead and Stix survived, he tries to eliminate them to cover up his betrayal. He previously stole data from Tyrell, which allowed the Cheshire Corporation to illegally manufacture Replicants that mimic Stix’s combat style. At the same time, Stix and Mead, still recovering from a Yakuza power struggle, are now hunted by Rumika, a Blade Runner sent by Tyrell to dismantle Cheshire and anyone involved.
I just checked out the scores for Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus, the new film, and it’s sitting at a solid 3.5 out of 5 on League of Comics Geeks – fans are calling it “Mostly Positive,” which is good news! I’m really curious to see if director Collins can take what Shore started and really push this installment to be something special. From what I’ve read about the story, it sounds like we’re in for another really intense, action-packed ride in the Blade Runner universe.
Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: To Lose Is To Win #1 is available on May 6, 2026, from Titan Comics!
