I was absolutely blown away when that incredible Netflix series came back in 2026! It didn’t hold back – this season was much darker, with a lot more characters meeting their end. Honestly, everyone was talking about how it upped the stakes. It all came at a time when Netflix had just said goodbye to Stranger Things at the end of 2025, and I, like a lot of viewers, was wondering how they’d fill that void. Stranger Things was huge for them, so it felt like a lot was riding on this new season.
As a big Netflix watcher, it’s become pretty clear what their strategy is for 2026. They’re leaning heavily on bringing back popular shows to make up for losing some of their biggest hits, while also pushing a ton of new original series that are really taking off worldwide. We’re seeing everything from gripping crime thrillers like the recently released Nemesis, to really funny, offbeat comedies like Free Bert, and honestly, a whole lot more that’s keeping people hooked.
Several Netflix shows have already premiered new seasons this year, and more are on the way before the end of 2026. For example, season two of The Chestnut Man recently arrived after a five-year hiatus. Another popular Netflix thriller also made a comeback in 2026, returning after a three-year break.
Beef, the Netflix series starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, began with a simple road rage incident that escalated into a full-blown feud in its first season. The show returned for a second season with a completely new format, becoming an anthology series that features different characters, settings, and conflicts. This new season is also significantly more intense and dangerous than the first.
Beef Season 2 Surpasses Season 1’s Death Count
The first season of Beef featured only one significant death: Jordan, the prospective buyer of Amy’s business, was killed in a home invasion during the second-to-last episode. Her death, caused by the door to her panic room, was a shocking moment that eliminated a key character. However, the release of Beef season 2 on April 16th revealed a change in direction, with the show choosing to feature more deaths.
The latest episodes of the Netflix thriller feature three significant deaths: Dr. Kim, Woosh, and Burberry. Burberry’s death is particularly heartbreaking; after an entire episode spent worrying about the dog’s whereabouts, Carey Mulligan’s character, Lindsay Crane-Martín, arrives just as a coyote attacks and kills it – a very shocking and violent scene. The deaths of Dr. Kim, who is shot, and Woosh, who is hit by a car, align with the ruthless actions of Chairwoman Park.
The Netflix Thriller Series Increasing Its Deaths For Season 2 Makes Sense
The first season of Beef focused mainly on the conflict between Steven Yeun’s Danny and Ali Wong’s Amy. However, season two expanded the scope considerably. The central rivalry now involved two couples: Oscar Isaac’s Josh and Caitlin Mulligan’s Lindsay, and Cailee Spaeny’s Ashley with Charles Melton’s Austin. The stakes were also raised by several additional storylines, including the power struggles at the country club and Dr. Kim’s accidental patient death, creating a more complex and far-reaching narrative.
Given the show’s shift towards a more intense storyline and the introduction of Chairwoman Park – a character with immense power and a willingness to use it – it’s natural that season 2 of Beef featured more violence and deaths. Beyond the three main characters who died, Josh had to defend himself against an assassin, and the rest of the characters found themselves in a violent struggle for survival at the clinic. Overall, this season was significantly more action-filled, and it will be fascinating to see if a potential season 3 escalates the intensity even further.
