3 UFC fights we hope Turki Alalshikh could finally make happen

As a long-time MMA fan and follower of the latest developments in the sport, I am beyond excited about the potential impact Turki Alalshikh and his recent partnerships with Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions could have on the UFC scene. With a track record of making big fights happen in boxing, it’s not hard to imagine what he could bring to MMA.

Turki Alalshikh has been the driving force and primary financier for several notable boxing matches over the past year. In collaboration with Riyadh Season, they have brought about fights in the boxing community that seemed unlikely. Their recent alliance with Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions is further evidence of their influence. Additionally, Alalshikh has begun to venture into MMA; he has teamed up with UFC president Dana White for the UFC Sphere event, leaving many to ponder what other possibilities may materialize under his patronage.

1. Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou

Above all, the anticipated clash between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou is what fans are eagerly waiting for in the world of mixed martial arts. It’s a far-fetched idea given that Ngannou isn’t part of the UFC roster yet and Dana White may not be inclined to co-promote with the PFL. However, if we imagine this as a boxing match or suppose Alalshikh meets Ngannou’s demands and brings him back to the UFC, anything is possible, especially when considering the influence of money in sports.

2. The return of Khabib Nurmagomedov

White has been vocal about his efforts to persuade Khabib Nurmagomedov to come out of retirement. However, these attempts have not been fruitful so far. But with Alalshikh’s financial support and their shared Muslim background, there is a possibility that Nurmagomedov may reconsider. Such a fight could potentially take place in the Middle East and might even include a rematch between McGregor and Islam Mahkachev on the same card. Can you imagine the magnitude of such an event?

3. Kayla Harrison and Cris Cyborg

If given the opportunity, I would suggest that Alalshikh focuses on organizing a fight between Cris Cyborg and Kayla Harrison. Although it may not be an urgent matter, I believe this match-up would be worth the effort. A parallel can be drawn with the Jones vs. Ngannou bout. With enough time having elapsed, I am confident that Dana White can set aside any past disagreements with Cris Cyborg to make this fight happen. Cyborg has yet to compete in PFL and has publicly expressed her dissatisfaction with the promotion. Given Alalshikh’s stated goal of adding more women to future cards, this potential bout could be a significant addition.

Which MMA fights do you think Alalshikh could finally make happen? Let me know on Twitter.
