3 things we learned at the UFC 305 media day
As a long-time UFC fan with a knack for remembering the most intriguing aspects of fighter interviews, I must say this media day was quite enlightening. Kai Kara-France’s six-month hiatus from fighting due to a concussion seems to have given him clarity that many fighters might overlook. His decision to heed the advice of specialists is commendable and shows his maturity as a fighter.
On a Wednesday, UFC held a media event for UFC 305, inviting main event fighters and local athletes. The main event, co-main, and supporting fighters were all present, each getting their turn under the spotlight. With numerous interviews scheduled, it can be challenging for fans to catch every conversation. Here are some of the key moments from the day to keep you informed about the fight card preparation.
Kai Kara-France on time away from fighting while healing from a concussion
Kai-Kara France disclosed that he underwent a six-month medical hiatus, during which he couldn’t engage in any sparring at all. Unlike some other fighters who might have disregarded the doctor’s advice, Kara-France expresses gratitude for having followed it.
“Kara-France stated that taking a break for six months really helped clear her thoughts. She believes it was the wisest decision she made, as it allowed her to listen to all the experts and people around her who were there to keep her on the right path.”
Dricus Du Plessis thinks Israel Adesanya’s loss was an ‘off night’
UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis is defending Israel Adesanya’s loss to Sean Strickland which is kind of suprising. While at UFC 305 media day he said, ““I think it was an off night,” Du Plessis said at Wednesday’s UFC 305 media day. “It was very evident in terms of how he fought – just the whole fight, you could see it. But then I fought Strickland and my whole perception around that fight changed because I know first-hand experience what it’s like to fight Sean Strickland. He’s hard to hit.”
Tai Tuivasa feeling extra pressure ahead of UFC 305
Tai Tuivasa is currently in a four-match losing streak as he prepares for his bout with Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and he acknowledges the increased pressure but remains confident that he can handle it. In his own words, “There’s definitely some pressure, but I’ve been through this before.” Born in Western Sydney, Tuivasa is accustomed to being on the losing side of things, but as he put it, “We overcome adversity and come out victorious.” So, he’s ready to turn his fortunes around. In more colorful language, he said, “Losing sucks!”
