3 science fiction legends we’d love to see in Star Trek
As a seasoned gamer with decades of immersion in the vast cosmos of sci-fi, I can confidently say that the galaxy is not just populated by stars but also by legends. The Star Trek franchise has undeniably showcased some of these legends, from Captain Kirk to Jean-Luc Picard, and more recently, Michael Burnham. However, as much as I appreciate the stellar cast, I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia for other sci-fi icons who haven’t graced the Star Trek universe yet.
Looking at the star-studded lineup within this franchise, you’ll find some of the most prominent figures in science fiction history. Ranging from William Shatner to Patrick Stewart, there are also illustrious individuals such as Scott Bakula and Sonequa Martin-Green. Moreover, don’t forget about newer additions like Anson Mount and Rebecca Romijn.
Although numerous well-known figures in the sci-fi world, many of whom weren’t previously mentioned due to time constraints, do not encompass every prominent science fiction franchise. Beyond Star Trek, there are numerous other outstanding series with their own leading stars, such as V, Stargate, Star Wars, and Jurassic Park. Numerous significant properties exist in the sci-fi genre that have produced their own notable celebrities.
We are dreaming about notable actors who might appear on Star Trek, either for a brief episode or in a standalone movie. Here, I’ve picked out three individuals whose talents would undoubtedly enrich the Star Trek universe if they were to be part of it someday soon.
Michael Shanks
Among the names on this list, he might be less familiar to mainstream audiences, but for many of us, he’s a revered figure in the underground scene. His rise to prominence started on Stargate SG-1, making him a standout for the Sci-Fi (formerly SyFy) network. Later, he appeared on other sci-fi series such as Eureka and Smallville. Given his charisma, it would be great to see him act alongside well-known stars like Mount and Ethan Peck in future projects.
Mark Hamill
It is widely recognized that Mark Hamill is known to everyone on this platform, thanks to his extensive career in films such as Star Wars and Batman (as the Joker), as well as lesser-known titles like The Guyver. However, he has yet to appear in a Star Trek production. At 70 years old, Hamill remains open to taking on unconventional roles, having recently starred in The Fall of the House of Usher. Here’s hoping he might consider joining the Star Trek universe soon.
Edward James Olmos
Perhaps the most skilled actor on the roster, but least recognized for his sci-fi roles, Edward James Olmos could significantly enhance the acting quality in any series he joins. Despite having more dramatic roles to his name, Olmos was pivotal in the Battlestar Galactica remake and delivered an exceptional performance in every scene. At nearly 80 years old, it’s high time for Star Trek and Olmos to collaborate on a standout performance that fans will cherish for a lifetime.
