Peacock isn’t usually the first streaming service people think of for original shows, but it actually has a few that are excellent all the way through. Compared to other major streamers, Peacock has often seemed happy relying on popular NBC shows to keep viewers entertained, rather than heavily investing in creating new original content.
Despite being a newer service, Peacock has produced some surprisingly good original TV shows. Compared to Netflix, which has a much larger library, Peacock’s shows have a high success rate. Their miniseries, in particular, are excellent and demonstrate a commitment to producing high-quality content.
NBC has a rich history of popular shows like Fraser, The Office, and even the classic Bonanza. So, its new shows created specifically for streaming need to be truly exceptional to get noticed. Luckily, these recent programs deliver, maintaining consistently high quality from episode to episode.
One Of Us Is Lying (2021-2022)
The teen drama mystery series One of Us Is Lying is based on Karen M. McManus’s 2017 novel. It centers around five students who are in detention together, but when one of them dies unexpectedly, everyone becomes a suspect.
The series follows a group of students and their friends as they become entangled in a web of rumors, deceit, and murder, causing mistrust and turning friends against each other in a desperate search for the killer. It’s a thrilling, quick-moving story where you can simply enjoy the suspense without getting bogged down in the details.
The show One of Us Is Lying is a genuine mystery, skillfully keeping viewers guessing about who committed the crime. The second season intensifies the suspense by bringing back previously smaller characters in significant roles and paying off attentive watching.
Killing It (2022-2023)

In the Peacock series Killing It, Craig Robinson plays Craig Foster, a divorced dad and security guard with entrepreneurial ambitions. The show, which ran for two seasons starting in 2022, centers on Craig’s journey as a series of unusual circumstances lead him to pursue a $20,000 prize.
Craig’s simple mission – to eliminate Florida’s biggest python – quickly spirals into a funny and heartwarming half-hour comedy series. Along the way, he forms unexpected friendships with the quirky characters he encounters, including one portrayed by Claudia O’Doherty.
This TV show is a hidden gem, finally giving Robinson a chance to shine in a comedy role he’s perfectly suited for. It cleverly satirizes the widespread obsession with getting rich fast, featuring strong acting and witty writing.
Girls5eva (2021-2024)
The musical comedy Girls5eva originally aired for two seasons on Peacock before moving to Netflix for its third. Unfortunately, Netflix canceled the show before it could complete a fourth season – a typical outcome for many shows on the platform. Despite this, the series, created by Tina Fey and Meredith Scardino, is absolutely worth watching.
The show centers around four women – Dawn, Summer, Gloria, and Wickie – who were once in the popular 90s girl group, Girls5eva. Years later, they’re all feeling lost and wondering what their lives would have been like if the group hadn’t broken up.
When a new rapper uses one of their old songs, a former band decides to make a comeback. The show, streaming on Peacock, has a great premise and the four actresses have wonderful chemistry. It’s funny and cleverly blends pop culture from the 90s with today’s trends.
