3 names who could, but will never reach the AEW World Championship

As a passionate wrestling fan with decades of experience under my belt, I wholeheartedly agree that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has brought a breath of fresh air to the professional wrestling industry. It’s been a beacon of hope for many talented performers who may have otherwise been overlooked. However, much like a well-crafted WWE finishing move, it seems fate has dealt a few unfortunate blows to some contenders who, despite their undeniable talent, will likely never lay claim to the AEW World Championship.

In the realm of professional wrestling, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has emerged as a valuable and crucial force. It offers increased employment opportunities for both in-ring performers and backstage personnel, who were previously overshadowed by the near monopoly held by the WWE. AEW serves as a platform where numerous talents are given a second or even third shot at becoming the top acts that fans have long desired to witness. However, not everyone can ascend to the pinnacle and claim the AEW World Championship title. Herein, we highlight three performers who fans yearned to see on this throne, yet their destinies sadly won’t include hoisting that championship belt.

Claudio Castagnoli

It was widely anticipated that wrestling enthusiasts would eagerly await Cesaro’s chance to become a major WWE champion. Unfortunately, this dream never materialized, and there were whispers within the industry that Vince McMahon and his team didn’t view Cesaro as a single’s titleholder beyond the tag team belts. When Claudio Castagnoli moved to AEW, there was optimism he could become a top contender. He did win the Ring of Honor World Championship, but it quickly became apparent that he was not a priority. Despite being involved in main event storylines, Castagnoli has yet to be the central figure. He’ll likely continue to excel as a performer and potentially claim more singles titles, but it seems unlikely that he’ll ever capture the world championship given the numerous names ahead of him.

Malakai Black

As a gamer, I’d rephrase that like this:

PAC

As a dedicated gamer, I’d say: Man, PAC is a heavy-hitting wrestler, not just in the world scene, but also on the AEW roster. Unfortunately, it seems like he’s the one they use to test the mettle of new contenders, trying to see if they deserve a shot at the title picture. Now, PAC has stepped up for the challenge multiple times, but alas, he hasn’t managed to grab the belt yet. With wrestlers like Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, and Jay White in the roster, it feels like PAC might have to wait his turn before any of them get a shot at the top spot, and maybe even some others who have already held the title.
