3 international destinations for WWE PLEs

As a gamer who’s been following the wrestling scene for over two decades now, I can confidently say that these proposed locations for future WWE Pay-Per-Views are nothing short of brilliant!

The world of professional wrestling is experiencing a significant surge in popularity. This growth can be attributed to several factors, including the emergence and expansion of All Elite Wrestling, as well as speculations about Vince McMahon’s dwindling influence in WWE. Whatever the reason, it’s clear that WWE is gaining momentum like an unstoppable ocean wave. One area where this growth is particularly evident is through their successful international shows. Considering its current trajectory, here are three potential locations for future Pay-Per-Views:

Mexico City, Mexico

It’s quite unexpected that WWE hasn’t held an event in Mexico City yet, considering that many U.S. combat sports organizations often find it challenging to venture south of the border. Mexico City is a significant metropolis, and combat sports enjoy high popularity within the country and among Mexican fans. Moreover, professional wrestling holds a special place in Mexico, with organizations like AAA and CMLL regularly putting on successful shows there.

WWE might consider hosting a Pay-Per-View event at a spacious arena instead of soccer stadiums. Despite not being able to fill up the entire country with soccer venues, there are still ample large arenas available. Moreover, the WWE roster boasts numerous talented Latino performers, making it easy to put together an exciting show. Hosting an event in Mexico City would be a significant milestone for the WWE.

Tokyo, Japan

There’s no need to debate the importance of professional wrestling in Japan. New Japan Pro Wrestling stands out as one of the most important promotions in the world. Even with that company at the top of the heap, there are several others thriving in Japan like Stardom, DDT Pro-Wrestling, and Dragon Gate. WWE has recently worked with Pro Wrestling Noah, sharing talent. There’s an opportunity to leverage these ties to put on a great show in Japan.

WWE has the potential to stage an impressive event in Japan, leveraging some of the finest wrestling stars worldwide. Previously, they’ve performed in Japan, and recent adjustments in their business strategies pave the way for cross-promotional shows that would captivate fans from beginning to end.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

In addition to being known for other aspects, Brazil is rich with connections to combat sports. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which shares ties with WWE, frequently visits this South American nation, attracting massive crowds of enthusiasts. While professional wrestling may not have as strong a following in the country, it would be intriguing if WWE were to organize a significant event like a Pay-Per-View in Brazil.
