3 future AEW Women’s World or TBS Champions
As a seasoned gamer of wrestling lore who’s navigated through the rough and tumble world of indies to the grand arena of mainstream wrestling, I can confidently say that AEW’s women’s division is on a roll. With Mercedes Mone adding fuel to the fire, the momentum is unstoppable, and Mariah May reigning supreme as the new champion promises a captivating run.
The women’s division in AEW is experiencing a significant surge, ever since Mercedes Mone came on board. The energy has only escalated from there. Currently, Mariah May holds the title, and with her impressive stint as Toni Storm’s second-in-command, she’s poised for a major reign of her own. AEW boasts a rich pool of talent among its female roster, and here are three women who are strong contenders for future champions, vying for either the Women’s World Championship or the TBS Championship.
Queen Aminata
Queen Aminata is exceptionally talented and fits the role perfectly, boasting a wealth of experience. Her on-screen persona is compelling, and she’s an impressive wrestler who can match speed with the best. During the AEW All Out preshow, she valiantly intervened to protect Skye Blue from Mariah May’s attack, potentially paving her way towards the title. She has been consistently successful in Ring of Honor, and even before that, she was a cherished figure within the independent circuit. It’s high time that AEW television showcases more of Queen Aminata.
Kamille
Kamille possesses a remarkable talent that companies often acquire, aiming for her to become a champion someday. She’s not content to remain unnoticed; her time with NWA served to boost her visibility, even though it may not have the same level of prominence as All Elite Wrestling. Now that she’s in AEW, there’s a significant opportunity for her to collaborate with the best wrestlers globally. In due course, she will likely find herself in the title race and is expected to secure a singles championship.
ATHENA
It’s time. ATHENA continues to dominate Ring of Honor as the featured performer on that show. But enough is enough. Tony Khan needs to find a way to get her on television on a weekly basis. She was the Daily DDT 2023 Women’s Wrestler of the Year and she hasn’t slowed down one bit in 2024. She has the ability to be a top performer and hold either championship on the “main roster.” At this point, it’s a huge shame that she doesn’t get the same level of booking as the male champions in ROH. But once that opportunity comes to her, she’s going to steal the show.
