3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, cancels tour: ‘I have no fear’
3 Doors Down’s frontman, Brad Arnold, shared some sad news: their upcoming summer tour is being called off due to a heart-wrenching development – Arnold was diagnosed with advanced stage kidney cancer that has also affected his lungs.
In a video shared on Wednesday, Arnold conveyed the news to his supporters, stating that the prognosis wasn’t favorable, yet he expressed no apprehension due to his unwavering faith in God. He emphasized that he is completely unafraid of it.
Or more concisely: In a video on Wednesday, Arnold shared that the news was not good, but he remains fearless due to his strong faith in God.
Both sentences convey the same meaning and are easy to read.
Approximately a month ago, the 46-year-old vocalist disclosed that he fell ill and needed to be admitted to the hospital. Subsequent medical examinations revealed that he was battling clear cell renal cell carcinoma, which had spread to his lungs.
Renal cell carcinoma (the most frequent type of kidney cancer) can be treated via immunotherapy and surgical procedures to eliminate tumors. This information comes from the National Cancer Institute. The survival rate for patients over a period of five years ranges between 50% and 69%. However, when tumors are large or have spread to other areas, treatment becomes more difficult, and the five-year survival rate drops to approximately 10%.
3 Doors Down had to apologize for having to scrap their summer tour, which was initially scheduled to commence at Daytona Beach on May 15 and traverse America as a co-headliner with Creed for certain performances. The tour details previously posted on the band’s website have been taken down and replaced by Arnold’s video message instead.
In a show of solidarity, Scott Stapp, known as the lead vocalist of Creed, expressed his backing for another artist in the comment section of their Instagram video.
He penned down, ‘If there’s anyone capable of dealing with this challenge, it’s definitely YOU, my friend.’ In unison with everyone here, we are sending our prayers skyward, confidently hoping for your full recovery and healing.
In a short span, the post triggered countless responses, as music enthusiasts and fellow artists expressed their affection and well wishes towards Arnold.
God grant you blessings, my friend. Demonstrating a way to overcome the shadows with brightness, as penned by American musician and songwriter, Gavin DeGraw.
Arnold titled his post with the sentiment that the band’s 2008 song, “It’s Not My Time,” has turned into a personal theme song for him. He requested the help of his faithful supporters, referring to them as his prayer warriors, and emphasized that he is blessed to have the best fans in the world.
āIād love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get,ā he said in the video.
3 Doors Down originated back in 1996 as a three-member group hailing from Escatawpa, Mississippi. The founding members were Arnold, who played lead guitar and provided backup vocals, Matt Roberts handling the bass, and Todd Harrell contributing to the vocals. In 1998, Chris Henderson joined the band, taking on rhythm guitar and backing vocal duties as well.
In the year 2000, this band gained widespread recognition following the release of their first album, “The Better Life.” This record included the chart-topping single “Kryptonite,” a track that would go on to symbolize early 2000s rock music and boast over a billion streams on Spotify. Over the years, they expanded their fanbase with further albums such as “Away From the Sun” in 2002 and “Seventeen Days” in 2005.
Over time, the band’s roster has experienced multiple shifts. At present, it consists of Arnold, Henderson, guitarist Chet Roberts, drummer Greg Upchurch, and bassist Justin Biltonen.
In 2012, the original guitarist of the band, named Roberts, departed the group. Tragically, he passed away in 2016 due to a drug overdose involving prescription medication.
