3 Best Movies To Watch On Prime Video This Week (October 20-24)

As October continues and the weather gets cooler, more and more people are choosing to stay in and enjoy movies on streaming services like Prime Video. With over 15,000 titles available, finding something to watch can be overwhelming, but there are still plenty of great options to choose from.

Amazon Prime Video has a wide variety of movies, from funny originals to timeless classics. You can even find acclaimed films like a Spike Jonze masterpiece and a standout horror sequel. We’ve selected three excellent movies on Prime Video to suit different preferences.

Being John Malkovich (1999)

Spike Jonze is a talented filmmaker, despite having a relatively short career so far. Many consider his best work to be the 1999 film Being John Malkovich, a clever and darkly funny movie. Written by Charlie Kaufman, the story centers on a puppeteer who discovers a hidden portal allowing people to experience life as actor John Malkovich.

The film stars John Cusack, Cameron Diaz, and Catherine Keener as people who discover a way to profit from a portal into the mind of actor John Malkovich. However, the real John Malkovich soon becomes aware of what’s happening and tries to stop them. The story delves into themes of wanting to escape your own life and the struggle to find your true identity.

This movie is a thought-provoking and funny story, blending serious ideas with dark humor. It explores the common desire to identify with celebrities, and reveals that living their life isn’t always as glamorous as it seems. The film was nominated for three Oscars and has become a well-loved independent film.

Goldfinger (1965)

Okay, so big news out of the spy world: Amazon now owns the James Bond franchise! To mark the occasion, they’re putting all the 007 films on Prime Video, which is fantastic for us fans. Honestly, they fumbled a bit with some really… questionable new posters they released alongside the announcement, but thankfully, the films themselves haven’t been touched. You’re still getting the classic Bond experience, just with a new studio backing it. I’m cautiously optimistic about the future of the franchise under Amazon, but for now, I’m just happy to have easy access to all those great movies.

Many consider Goldfinger to be the ultimate James Bond film, especially for those new to the series. Starring Sean Connery, it pits Bond against Auric Goldfinger, a villain plotting to sabotage Fort Knox and inflate the value of his own gold.

The plot of Goldfinger feels a little thin at first, but the movie turned out to be fantastic, boasting some of the most memorable locations in all of the Bond films. Sean Connery delivers one of his strongest performances as Bond, and Goldfinger is a truly iconic villain – all despite having a surprisingly simple plan.

Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

As Halloween approaches, now is the perfect time to revisit some classic horror films. In the 1930s, Universal Studios became famous for its monster movies, particularly those starring Dracula and Frankenstein. Interestingly, one of the follow-up films is often considered the studio’s greatest horror achievement.

I’ve always thought the original Frankenstein was fantastic, but Bride of Frankenstein? That film is a true masterpiece of horror! The Creature’s desire for a companion, someone to share his existence with, was so poignant, even though it all went terribly wrong for both him and Dr. Frankenstein. And Elsa Lanchester… she was the Bride! Her performance is absolutely iconic and still sends shivers down my spine. She truly defined the character and remains a legend in horror cinema.

Guillermo del Toro’s reimagining of Frankenstein arrived in theaters and on Netflix in 2025, and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride is slated for release in 2026. But for those wanting to revisit the classic source material, Prime Video is streaming the original films just in time for Halloween.
