3 Best Movies To Watch On Netflix This Week (Dec 8-12)

For the week of December 8th, Netflix offers a great selection of movies, including scary horror films, exciting crime thrillers, and a highly-rated survival story. Whether you’re in the mood for original films or classic Hollywood favorites, with options spanning horror, comedy, action, and drama, Netflix truly has something to entertain everyone.

Netflix already has a huge number of subscribers, and that number could increase once it completes its purchase of Warner Bros. This deal will give Netflix a larger share of the streaming market and significantly expand its already extensive collection of movies and shows. Even now, Netflix releases excellent films on a weekly basis.

Troll 2 (2025)

Netflix recently added a movie called Troll 2. It’s different from the famous, unintentionally funny horror film Troll 2 from 1990. This new Troll 2 is a Netflix original and quickly became very popular, ranking as the second most-watched movie on the service this week, just after Jingle Bell Heist.

It’s not surprising that the new Troll movie is doing well, considering the first film racked up 103 million views in its first three months. Troll 2 features the original cast – Nora Tidemann, Andreas Isaksen, and Kristoffer Holm – and tells the story of a troll who teams up with them to fight another.

The ending suggests a third Troll movie is likely, with an even bigger threat emerging from the mountain. While the second Troll film hasn’t been as well-received by critics as the first, it’s still attracting a large audience.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Quentin Tarantino is facing some controversy lately, but it shouldn’t overshadow his impressive body of work. Fans can currently see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair in theaters, and now Pulp Fiction, the film that launched his career, is available on Netflix as a reminder of his talent.

As a huge fan, I have to say John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson are incredible in Pulp Fiction! They play these hitmen, Vincent and Jules, and the way the movie weaves together different stories is just brilliant – only Tarantino could do it like that. The dialogue is seriously some of the best I’ve ever heard in a film, and even now, some scenes are totally shocking. It really is a defining movie of the 90s, a true masterpiece.

Both Pulp Fiction and The Hateful Eight are now available on Netflix, but if you’re only going to watch one Quentin Tarantino film, Pulp Fiction is the better choice – it’s a classic for a reason.

Cast Away (2000)

The film Cast Away became available on Netflix on December 7th and is still considered one of Tom Hanks’ most memorable roles. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, who also directed Forrest Gump, the movie stars Hanks as Chuck Noland, a man who survives a plane crash and finds himself alone on a deserted island.

Tom Hanks gave an incredible performance in the movie, carrying most of the scenes single-handedly—his only companion was a volleyball named Wilson. Critics and audiences alike loved it, with an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 84% audience score.

The film received two Academy Award nominations, including one for Tom Hanks as Best Actor. It’s a powerful and moving story, and if you’re looking for a great movie to watch on Netflix this week, this one is well worth your time.
