Yet, several upcoming movies are being developed, suggesting his return to the big screen may occur then.

When it was disclosed that the series would make a comeback, Boyle revealed his intentions for a trilogy. He himself has directed the first installment, while the second – Nia DaCosta’s “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” which she directed, was filmed consecutively with it.

On the other hand, the third movie is yet to be fully confirmed, since Boyle mentioned that the funding isn’t finalized at present. He also urged fans to back the upcoming two films.

At the same event, the two directors teased what the tones of their two films would be like.

Regarding “28 Days Later,” Boyle expressed, “I remain fond of the post-apocalyptic theme, particularly the British interpretation. I’m still captivated by the infected characters and continue to enjoy scenes involving explosions.

In an interview, DaCosta spoke about her movie, The Bone Temple, saying, “Though it draws inspiration from 28 Days Later, the screenplay for this film is uniquely distinct. I had the freedom to express my individuality fully.

28 Years Later will be released on June 20, while The Bone Temple will be released in 2026.
