28 Years Later: The Bone Temple hailed as “breathtaking” and ‘one of the best horrors of the decade’

Early reactions to “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” are incredibly positive, with some calling it one of the best horror films in recent years. Critics and journalists shared their first impressions on social media before the movie hits theaters in the UK on January 14th.

Rachel Leishman enthusiastically described “28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE” as wonderfully chaotic, stunning, and exactly what she’d hoped for.

Nia DaCosta’s direction really stood out, bringing a fresh feel to the movie. I was completely drawn in by the performances of Jack O’Connell and Ralph Fiennes – I could watch them act together for ages! It’s another excellent addition to the series.

Eammon Parks Jacobs praised the film as one of the best horror movies in the last ten years, especially highlighting the performances of Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, and Chi Lewis-Parry.

Matt Neglia noted that The Bone Temple expands on the series’ backstory, raising new questions while finally providing answers in what he described as the most intense, but surprisingly subtle, chapter yet.

Kat Hughes said that the movie is “exactly how you do a middle chapter of a trilogy”.

The Bone Temple is the second movie in a planned three-part series directed by Danny Boyle. The first film, 28 Years Later, came out in June. While a third film is being planned, production hasn’t officially started yet.

Okay, so in the second part of the story, things get really interesting. Dr. Kelson unexpectedly gets into a relationship, and it’s a big deal – like, potentially world-altering big. Meanwhile, my time as Spike dealing with Jimmy Crystal just turns into a total disaster I can’t seem to get out of. It’s intense!

In The Bone Temple, the biggest danger isn’t the infected themselves, but how people treat each other in order to survive – and it’s often more frightening than the monsters.

The new film, The Bone Temple, brings back the popular cast from the previous movie, including Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Cillian Murphy, known for his role in 28 Days Later, will also return as Jim, a character who survived the initial outbreak in London, much to the delight of fans.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will land in UK cinemas on 14 January 2026.
