28 Years Later teaser contains hidden message in Morse code

As a die-hard fan of the original “28 Days Later” trilogy, I must say that the release of this teaser has sent chills down my spine and rekindled the anticipation that has been building for years! The cryptic Morse code transmission hinting at a full trailer on Tuesday only fuels the suspense.

Sony has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the upcoming film “28 Years Later“. While it offers only fleeting glimpses and a subtle Morse code message that translates to “Tuesday”, speculation among fans online suggests this could hint at the release of the full-length trailer on that day.

28 Years Later’s post on platform X (previously known as Twitter) shared a sneak peek that you can view here, but Sony hasn’t put it up on their YouTube channel just yet.

In essence, what does the 13-second video depict? It features swift glimpses of red skulls similar to those in the latest poster, an island setting, and a scene reminiscent of crucifixion. Some viewers have speculated that it might be images of zombies being crucified, hinting at a possible ritualistic or cult-like event taking place on this island. Since the sequel is named “The Bone Temple“, there could be some truth to this theory.

Regarding the island in question, The Hollywood Reporter proposes that it could potentially be Lindisfarne Island located in Northumberland, serving as a possible refuge for survivors amidst the ongoing devastation caused by the Rage Virus worldwide. By the final moments of the 2007 movie “28 Weeks Later,” the virus had already infected all of Great Britain. Given this dire circumstance, an island may be the last remaining sanctuary; however, its safety is likely to be temporary.

28 Years Later brings back co-creators Danny Boyle and Alex Garland for another installment. Boyle takes on directing duties, with Garland penning the script, marking their comeback to this series. This new movie is the start of a planned trilogy. In addition, Nia DaCosta (known for her work on Candyman) will helm the sequel titled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple.

As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the talented Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his role as Jim in the upcoming installment! Joining him will be some fresh faces hailing from the franchise: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, and the remarkable Jodie Comer. Can’t wait to see what this star-studded cast brings to the table!

Previously, Fiennes discussed the details of his role and the film’s narrative, where a boy endeavors to aid his ailing mother by navigating treacherous landscapes to find a physician. It appears that Fiennes may embody that physician, and he describes his character as “a positive influence.

28 Years Later will be released exclusively in theaters on June 20, 2025.
