28 Years Later actor, Chi Lewis-Perry, has addressed the query that everybody (even those yet to watch Danny Boyle’s eagerly anticipated sequel) is curious about.

As a dedicated gamer immersed in my virtual world, I can’t help but draw parallels with the character portrayed by that ex-MMA fighter turned silver screen star. He takes on the role of Samson, a formidable antagonist in this cinematic adventure. Samson is no ordinary adversary; he’s one of the Alpha-infected humans who have undergone a terrifying evolution, transforming into towering, rage-filled behemoths reminiscent of the unstoppable berserker brutes that keep me on the edge of my seat in my favorite video games.

The character in the movie is its largest, most prominent creature. It’s hard for viewers not to take note of this character’s exceptionally large portrayal of a monster, which the film frequently highlights. (In this version, I aimed to maintain the original meaning while using less graphic language and making it more suitable for a broader audience.)

In the movie, were genuine nudity scenes shown, similar to those featuring Cillian Murphy in the initial film, or was it instead achieved using special effects like prosthetics to create the illusion of nudity?

Lewis-Perry clarified to Variety that the nude scenes were actually prosthetics. Due to the actor being a minor, there’s a rule that allows for nudity, but it must be simulated. This was done to safeguard the child’s privacy.

Not only am I quite affable, but you’d often find me giving warm embraces. I guess, if I were completely buttoned up, these gestures wouldn’t be as frequent!”

“I’m known for my friendly demeanor and frequent hugs. If I were always closed off, I wouldn’t be sharing those warm greetings as often!

When inquired about whether his artificial limb accurately matches his real-life dimensions, he subtly answered by saying: “Indeed, I stand at 6 feet and 8 inches tall. I’ll let that speak for itself.

Additionally, he disclosed that he didn’t delve deeply into the origins of the character Samson working with director Danny Boyle, but instead crafted a brief background narrative to aid in his portrayal.

The actor mentioned that he keeps a small notepad as a tool for understanding a character’s motivations, particularly in becoming an “Alpha” figure. He explained that by having the character save others, it helps visualize his intentions more clearly.

He gave up his own safety to shield others, which resulted in him becoming ill or hurt. Yet, this selfless act made him seem less monstrous to me.

28 Years Later has hit theaters! If you haven’t seen the first movie yet, it’s available for streaming on BBC iPlayer. Next year brings us the sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and we can look forward to Samson reprising his role.
