Salem’s Lot (Max, Oct. 3)

In five years, viewers will at last have the chance to encounter the chilling haunts of Jerusalem’s Lot, starting this week. Struggling with writer’s block, Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) finds himself drawn back to his childhood home, but instead of familiar faces, he encounters a horde of vampires that has taken over the town. Gary Dauberman, who brought us “Annabelle Comes Home,” is directing the 2024 adaptation of Stephen King’s 1975 horror novel, “Salem’s Lot.” The cast includes Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbæk, Alfre Woodard, and William Sadler.

Hold Your Breath (Hulu Oct. 3)

In this Hulu Original movie produced by Searchlight Pictures, the renowned actress Sarah Paulson takes on the role. The story unfolds in 1930s Oklahoma, where Paulson portrays a tormented mother grappling with past trauma. As a storm of dust sweeps through, she becomes convinced that a sinister force is after her and will stop at nothing to shield her child.

House of Spoils (Prime Video, Oct. 3)

This week, following its premiere at Fantastic Fest in September, the supernatural horror film “House of Spoils” is now available on Prime Video. Co-produced by Amazon and Blumhouse, this movie features Ariana DeBose as a chef venturing to open her own restaurant within a charming yet haunted mansion. However, she encounters challenges at every step because of the ghostly presence of the former owner. This coming Friday on Shudder, the seventh installment of the ongoing found-footage horror anthology series is set to premiere, with many praising it as one of the strongest entries yet. Notably, it marks Kate Siegel’s directorial debut, working from a script penned by her husband and renowned horror creator Mike Flanagan.
