Without a doubt, September was packed with terrifying content, yet October is poised to take the crown as the undisputed king of scary movies and TV shows. Whether it’s Netflix, Max, or Hulu, there’s an abundance of reasons to be thrilled as we officially welcome the finest month into our calendar.

Netflix’s “Netflix and Chill” sessions are heating up with the arrival of movies such as “The Platform 2” and the acclaimed Sundance film, “What’s Inside”. Meanwhile, Hulu’s Halloween celebration features the movie “Hold Your Breath”, starring Sarah Paulson. Lastly, Max is finally unveiling its long-awaited adaptation of “Salem’s Lot”.

Gary Dauberman, who brought us “Annabelle Comes Home,” is directing the 2024 adaptation of Stephen King’s 1975 horror novel, “Salem’s Lot.” The cast includes Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbæk, Alfre Woodard, and William Sadler.

Hold Your Breath (Hulu Oct. 3)

In this Hulu Original movie produced by Searchlight Pictures, the renowned actress Sarah Paulson takes on the role. The story unfolds in 1930s Oklahoma, where Paulson portrays a tormented mother grappling with past trauma. As a storm of dust sweeps through, she becomes convinced that a sinister force is after her and will stop at nothing to shield her child.

House of Spoils (Prime Video, Oct. 3)

This week, following its premiere at Fantastic Fest in September, the supernatural horror film “House of Spoils” is now available on Prime Video. Co-produced by Amazon and Blumhouse, this movie features Ariana DeBose as a chef venturing to open her own restaurant within a charming yet haunted mansion.
