22-year-old Latin musician and influencer is killed as she sits in a parked car in Northridge

A 22-year-old social media personality and Latin music artist was fatally shot in Northridge early Saturday morning, according to police.

Los Angeles police say Maria de la Rosa was killed in a shooting on Bryant Street, near Tampa Avenue. Several people were in a parked car when multiple shots were fired at them.

Police say witnesses saw two men walk up to the car around 1:25 a.m. on Saturday. De la Rosa was taken to a hospital but died from her injuries.

We don’t have any more details about the suspects, or if anyone else in the car was hurt.

DELAROSA, whose real name is De la Rosa, debuted her first single, “No me llames” (which translates to “Don’t Call Me”), in August. Her latest Instagram post, shared with her over 40,000 followers, shows her in a recording studio with an electric guitar, hinting at more new music soon. The caption, “Busy cooking in the studio,” suggests she’s actively working on upcoming releases.

Numerous fans shared their sadness over the young performer’s passing in the comments section, and many prominent figures from the Latin music scene also expressed their condolences, including producer Jimmy Humilde and Juan Moises, the singer for Los Gemelos de Sinaloa.

Music producer and engineer Times J Martinez described herself as a young, skilled musician in a Spanish-language message.

“Me duele que alla sido con violencia,” he wrote, or “It hurts that it happened with violence.”

Police are still investigating why De la Rosa was shot and haven’t made any arrests yet.
