The highly anticipated sequel to the sci-fi horror film M3GAN, titled M3GAN 2.0, will soon be available to stream on Netflix. The movie continues the story after the events involving the out-of-control artificial intelligence.
M3GAN 2.0 will stream on Netflix this month
The sequel to the 2022 horror hit M3GAN, titled M3GAN 2.0, will be available to stream on Netflix later this month. According to What’s on Netflix, you’ll be able to watch it starting January 26, 2026.
The new movie takes the series into much darker territory. Picking up two years after the first M3GAN is destroyed, the story shows how the sophisticated A.I. continues to exist even without its creator. A defense contractor secretly gets hold of that same code and turns it into Amelia, a highly advanced weapon built for secret military missions.
I was totally hooked by how Amelia, the AI, really starts to think for herself and push back against people – it quickly becomes a huge problem for the whole world! It’s fascinating because Gemma, played by Allison Williams, is faced with some really tough choices, both ethically and technologically, and she ends up bringing M3GAN back, but this time, M3GAN is seriously upgraded. The cast is great – Allison Williams is fantastic, and Violet McGraw as Cady and Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole are also really memorable. Of course, Amie Donald is M3GAN, and Jen Van Epps plays Tess, adding to the solid ensemble.
As a big horror fan, I’ve been following the reaction to M3GAN 2.0 closely, and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag from critics. Rotten Tomatoes currently shows a critics’ score of around 57% after over 244 reviews. Thankfully, audiences seem to be enjoying it much more, giving it an 81% rating! Kim Newman from Sight & Sound called it a “satisfying, lively sequel,” and praised director Gerard Johnstone, pointing out his talent for unique horror goes all the way back to his 2014 film, Housebound.
The film performed reasonably well in theaters. It made around $24 million in the United States and Canada, and another $14 million internationally, for a total worldwide gross of about $39 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
With its upcoming Netflix release, M3GAN 2.0 is expected to reach a wider audience.
