Netflix’s newest season of Stranger Things, Volume 1, has quickly become its most popular show. This happened just before Volume 2 is set to be released. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the show stars a large ensemble cast including Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, and Noah Schnapp, among others.
Stranger Things Season 5 breaks all-time streaming record
Okay, let me tell you, the first part of Stranger Things Season 5 absolutely crushed it on Netflix. The numbers are in, and it’s officially the most-watched show they’ve ever had – a total record-breaker. It’s clear everyone was waiting for this, and they definitely delivered a huge audience.
A recent Nielsen report shows the new show’s first volume racked up an impressive 8.46 billion minutes of viewing time in its debut week. This is the highest first-week viewing total for any show ever, surpassing the previous record of 7.2 billion minutes set by the premiere of Stranger Things Season 4.
Although Nielsen doesn’t break down viewership by season, they confirmed that episodes from Volume 1 of Season 5 made up 57% of the show’s total watch time.
Fans of Stranger Things are getting excited for the release of the second part of the latest season on Christmas Day. This second volume will include three episodes – “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” and “The Bridge” – following the four episodes released in the first volume.
I’m so hyped for the final part of the season! Ross Duffer just announced on Instagram that episodes five, six, and seven are completely finished – they’ve been edited, scored, and everything! Apparently, “Shock Jock” picks up right where “Sorcerer” left off, and Frank Darabont is directing again, but this time it’s way darker and more terrifying than his previous episode, “Turnbow Trap.” Then Shawn Levy steps back into the director’s chair for “Escape from Camazotz,” which sounds massive – honestly, the performances are so powerful they make the crew tear up every time they watch it. We actually co-directed the final episode before the finale, “The Bridge,” with Shawn. We don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s probably the most emotionally draining episode of the season, aside from the very last one.
The final season of Stranger Things, Volume 3, will be released on November 31, 2025. Fans have been eagerly awaiting its arrival.
