Walter Koenig admitted his feelings for Star Trek: The Next Generation were “mean-spirited”

Given that Star Trek: The Original Series was well into its movie phase when The Next Generation debuted, he believed that the new series would potentially harm the feature films. Later on, he acknowledged that his initial thoughts were unkind, but he did express a preference for The Original Series over The Next Generation.

However, I don’t believe there’s anything inherently wrong with a creative work that carries a serious undertone.
