Anson Mount wants Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to stick to canon when it comes to Captain Pike’s fate

Ever since “The Menagerie” episode from Star Trek: The Original Series aired, fans have been aware of Captain Christopher Pike’s destiny. What awaits him is a grim scenario, one that he cannot alter without endangering others. This was vividly depicted in the season one finale of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, where Captain Pike (Anson Mount) came face-to-face with an alternate future version of himself. In this twist, it would have been Lt. Spock [Ethan Peck] who suffered instead, and Starfleet would be perpetually embroiled in a conflict with the Romulans. It appears that Captain Pike’s fate is unalterable.
