As a music enthusiast with decades of listening under my belt, I must say the 2024 Mercury Prize Albums of the Year nominations have truly ignited a spark within me. From Charli XCX’s BRAT to Cat Burns’ Early Twenties, and The Last Dinner Party’s Prelude To Ecstasy, this lineup is a testament to the vibrant and diverse music scene we have today.

In 2024, Charli XCX and Cat Burns are two well-known musicians who have received nominations for the prestigious Mercury Prize in the Album of the Year category.

On September 5, the eagerly awaited Television special highlighting the Best Albums of the Year will be recorded and aired live straight from Abbey Road Studios.

The Mercury Prize honors and commemorates the best Albums of the Year, earning a name for showcasing both up-and-coming artists and seasoned musicians.

As a connoisseur of all things trendy and fresh, I can confidently say that Charli XCX’s album BRAT has been met with nothing but praise from both critics and music enthusiasts alike. It’s no wonder, then, that this masterpiece has found its way onto the list of 12 nominations for something extraordinary.

I’m beyond thrilled to announce that not only did Cat Burns land a deal for her Early Twenties album, but The Last Dinner Party’s Prelude to Ecstasy is about to be honored with an award! What an incredible time to be a fan!

In 2020, Charli XCX was nominated for an award with her album “How I’m Feeling Now.” This year, she’s back on the list thanks to her latest sixth studio album, “Brat,” which reached number two in the charts after its release a few months ago.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that the indie band I’m part of, The Last Dinner Party, has been recognized for our debut album, “Prelude To Ecstasy.” This masterpiece, unveiled in February, quickly climbed the charts and is now making waves. The lineup includes Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies, and Aurora Nishevci – five talented individuals who pour their hearts into every note we play.

In January, the team clinched the title of BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2024. This year, they graced several summer festivals, such as Glastonbury and TRNSMT, with their performances.

Besides them, Corinne Bailey Rae’s album “Black Rainbows” and Irish artist CMAT’s album “Crazymad, For Me” are also in the running for the Mercury Prize.

As a longtime music enthusiast with a keen ear for emerging talent, I’ve found myself particularly excited about this year’s selection of debut records. With Cat Burns’ Early Twenties and Nia Archives’ Silence Is Loud among them, it seems that 2021 is shaping up to be an exceptional year for newcomers in the music industry.

2021 MOBO Award-winning rapper Ghetts, known for his role in the Netflix series “Supacell,” is additionally nominated for the album titled “On Purpose, With Purpose.”

In another context, Barry Can’t Swim’s album “Elsewhere When Will We Land?” has been put forward for consideration along with BERWYN’s record “Who Am I.”

Corto.alto’s “Bad With Names” is similarly recognized, along with “This Could Be Texas” by the English Teacher and “Lives Outgrown” by Beth Gibbons of Portishead fame.
