2024 Fall TV preview: From season 3 one of 7 new and returning horror shows

As a devoted fan of horror and mystery genres, I am positively thrilled about the array of chilling new shows gracing our screens this fall! Having grown up binge-watching everything from “Twin Peaks” to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” it seems like my youthful dreams of being surrounded by supernatural intrigue have finally come true.

Television shows airing during fall are a cherished tradition in the entertainment world, and this season is no exception. Unlike last year, fortunately, there seems to be an increased number of horror series to anticipate, such as the comeback of “From” on MGM+ and exclusive productions from Peacock.

Ryan Murphy is returning, but not with fresh installments of “American Horror Story” or its offshoot “American Horror Stories”. Instead, Murphy has enlisted Niecy Nash to spearhead a puzzling drama titled “Grotesquerie“, which inexplicably includes Travis Kelce as well.

Additionally, the final episode of “What We Do in the Shadows” and a new series about the Menendez brothers, following up on the debated yet undeniably successful “Monster: A Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” are approaching.

As a thrill-seeking gamer, here’s what I’ve got my eyes on for chilling TV experiences this Halloween season: Stay tuned to discover the spine-tingling shows that will keep you glued to your screens!

Teacup (Peacock, Oct. 10)

As a dedicated fan, I can’t wait to dive into the upcoming TV series based on Robert McCammon’s chilling novel, Stinger. In this spine-tingling tale set in rural Georgia, I find myself among a band of resilient survivors who are fighting tooth and nail just to stay alive. Produced by horror mastermind James Wan, known for his work on the Conjuring Universe and Archive 81, along with Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, Francisca X. Hu, and Kevin Tancharoen, this eight-episode series promises an adrenaline-fueled journey. The suspense begins to build as two episodes are released each week starting from October 10.

Hysteria! (Peacock, Oct. 18)

Check it out, Bruce Campbell enthusiasts! The star of Evil Dead and horror legend has an exciting new venture coming up this fall on Peacock! Titled Hysteria!, the series is set in a small town during the 1980s peak of the “Satanic Panic” hype. This group of misfits plans to capitalize on the town’s recent mysterious events (such as a vanishing quarterback, murders, and abductions) by creating a Satanic image for their heavy metal band.

Sadly, this situation often leads residents directly to them during a distressing manhunt, as strange occurrences persist. The cast includes Anna Camp, Julie Bowen, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, and Nikki Hahn. All eight episodes will be available on the same day.

From season 3 (MGM+, Sept. 22)

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t wait for next month when this gripping horror series produced by the minds behind “Lost” is set to continue unveiling the intricate mystery surrounding that enigmatic town where everyone who enters gets trapped. In the season finale, we saw Tabitha, one of the characters, possibly making a daring escape – a mixed blessing, as she’s now isolated from her family and there seems to be no way for her to find them again.

According to the announcement, after the dramatic ending of Season Two, there’s a chance for freedom that will become increasingly appealing as we learn more about the town’s true identity. As the townsfolk prepare to take action, they will face the numerous terrors lurking around them head-on.

Grotesquerie (FX, Sept. 25)

The newest drama series from “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy features Niecy Nash as a detective unraveling a string of terrifying crimes in a small town, with Micaela Diamond lending a hand as a nun. Similar to other works by Murphy, “Grotesquerie” includes some unexpected casting choices, such as Travis Kelce, a professional football player making his acting debut. The episodes will also be available on Hulu the following day.

Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story (Netflix, Sept. 19)

Netflix swiftly renewed the series “Monster” for two seasons following the success of the Jeffrey Dahmer series starring Evan Peters, which garnered over a billion minutes watched. The next venture from Ryan Murphy, the second season of the show delves into another contentious case involving the Menendez brothers, who are currently incarcerated for life due to the murder of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez.

1. The brothers claim they acted only after enduring years of mistreatment by their parents.

Agatha All Along (Disney+, Sept. 18)

In a somewhat spooky twist, the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series featuring Agatha Harkness, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn from the critically acclaimed series “WandaVision”, delves into horror-inspired themes. Having lost her powers in a confrontation with the Scarlet Witch, Agatha assembles an unconventional team to embark on a journey known as the Witches’ Road, aiming to reclaim her magical abilities.

What We Do in the Shadows season 6 (FX, Oct. 21)

In October, the sixth and concluding season of the adored, side-splitting mockumentary series featuring vampire flatmates residing in Staten Island is set to air with a three-episode introduction (with one new episode each week following). Similar to other FX programs, “What We Do in the Shadows” Season 6 will make its episodes available on Hulu after their initial broadcast. This season is being referred to as a period of reassessment for these characters, particularly for Guillermo, who has once again become human.

Along with the previously mentioned shows, be sure to take a look at the upcoming holiday-themed baking and pumpkin carving competitions on Food Network in September as well!
