2 Chainz Announces Short Film ‘Red Clay’
2 Chainz is stepping into the realm of films, as he officially unveils his short film titled “Red Clay“. According to Variety, this project is jointly penned by acting star, Omar Epps.
The brief movie made its debut at the Atlanta Film Festival, with Christopher Nolan Jones steering the production. In a statement, rapper 2 Chainz expressed his thoughts about the film: “I express my stories through music, aiming to inspire people to conquer any obstacle. _Red Clay_ is an extension of that narrative. Atlanta embodies resilience, and bringing Nook and Bub’s tale – ordinary individuals struggling to survive – holds immense significance for me. Collaborating with Omar Epps on this project was nothing short of legendary.
The movie titled “Red Clay” revolves around Nook, portrayed by Christopher A’mmanuel, a young man grappling with societal hurdles due to his mother’s drug addiction. Alongside his friend Bub, Nook yearns for a brighter future, but finds himself trapped in the very world he wishes to flee. The film is set in 2003 and features Rutina Wesley and Jaylan Ragin as well. As for the story’s origin, Epps shared that it stemmed from the desire to expose harsh realities and portray the intricacies of why trauma is often accepted within black and brown communities. His aim is to initiate discussions leading to increased empathy and compassion among people.
Back in the day, I stepped into the world of acting, playing roles on TV shows like BMF and even starring in this year’s movie, The Enforcer. Whether or not that short film we made will hit the big screen for everyone to see is still up in the air.
