The Academy Award-nominee is famous for fully immersing himself in his roles, often playing characters who are strong, aggressive, and somewhat unstable. However, he took this dedication to a new level with the part that launched his career, and it’s now available on a new streaming service.
First released in 2008 and directed by , introduces Tom Hardy as Michael Peterson, the real-life bare-knuckle boxer and infamous prisoner also known as Charles Bronson. Famous for being one of the U.K.’s longest-serving prisoners-having spent the majority of the last 50 years incarcerated-Bronson gives a physically imposing Hardy the chance to showcase his strength and physicality, while also letting him explore a more dramatically expressive side.
I’m really excited about this cast! Along with Tom Hardy, we’ve got Matt King, James Lance, Amanda Burton, Kelly Adams, Juliet Oldfield, Jonathan Phillips, and Hugh Ross all starring. Bronson is finally coming to HBO Max on October 1, 2025, and you can read the official description of this crime drama below…
This dramatic film is based on the real life of Michael Peterson, better known as Charles Bronson (played by Tom Hardy), who was considered the most violent prisoner in Britain. Initially imprisoned for robbing a jewelry store, the married Bronson receives a seven-year sentence. However, his uncontrollable and aggressive conduct rapidly leads to conflicts with prison staff, other inmates, and even an animal. The only place where Bronson can’t cause trouble is in solitary confinement, where he spends the majority of his time.

Ever since his breakout role in Bronson, Tom Hardy has become a well-known and highly requested actor in Hollywood. Now, he’s preparing to reprise his role as the skilled problem-solver Harry Da Souza in the second season of the popular crime series, MobLand. The new season is anticipated to premiere on Paramount+ in 2026.
