16 & Pregnant star Whitney Purvis ARRESTED for involuntary manslaughter

16 and Pregnant’s Whitney Purvis is said to have been taken into custody on charges of felony involuntary manslaughter, allegedly connected to a fatal drug overdose case.

As reported by TMZ from their online records, the ex-MTV reality star, aged 33, was taken into police custody in Floyd County, Georgia on a Monday.

She is facing charges for deliberately spreading the drug known as Tranq, a combination of xylazine and fentanyl.

Officials have reported that the victim, identified as 37-year-old John Mark Harris, had been working as a chef in the most recent phase of his career at Barnsley Gardens.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Purvis for comment but has yet to hear back.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta’s report, police officers discovered the body of Harris on February 17, 2025, at his residence in Rome, having succumbed to an overdose.

At the scene, cops described ‘seeing possible drug paraphernalia.’ 

The outlet claims a ‘warrant for Purvis’s arrest accuses her of supplying Harris with’ Tranq. 

The news article mentioned that Harris attended Darlington School and was part of the Sigma Chi fraternity while studying at Hampden-Sydney College.

Under the post, Purvis left a heartfelt message and an apology for missing his funeral.   

John Mark, it pains me deeply to learn about today’s events and the fact that I couldn’t be there for your funeral. If only I had known earlier, I would have made every effort to participate in your memorial service,” she expressed.

On numerous instances, you’ve stepped in to help me, and throughout the years, you’ve been my savior. Our friendship deepened as fellow chefs, sharing our passion for cooking and facing similar challenges,” Purvis explained. “You’ve always had a knack for knowing the right words or offering your sincere advice and honest opinion when I needed it most.

Purvis expressed gratitude for the shared moments, then acknowledged finding it tough to cope with the sadness of their separation.

Oh, the thought of this not being real is torture! The joy of waking up to your whimsical messages and photos has been a daily delight for me. I’ll deeply miss those moments, as well as your exceptional culinary skills that always left me craving for more. But most of all, I’ll miss those cozy evenings on the couch, lost in our favorite shows together.

She summed up: ‘Above all, I’ll deeply miss you, a genuinely kind-hearted and extraordinary man, John Mark. You will always be remembered by me. May you rest in peace, and my sympathies go out to your family and friends during this difficult time. I hope they can find some comfort amidst their grief. My love for you remains eternal, John Mark. With love, Whitney.’

Previously, Purvis has encountered legal issues; she’s had past arrests for shoplifting and contempt of court due to unpaid child support obligations.

Her detention occurred a month following her announcement about the sad demise of her son, Weston Jr., who was only 16 years old.

She posted on Facebook that it’s extremely difficult for her to write, as her beloved son Weston has sadly passed away at just 16 years old. Life seems unbearably cruel and unjust to her, leaving her bewildered.

Amy Gosa, the boy’s stepmother, posted on Facebook that day, reporting they had awakened around 7 am, but found the boy wasn’t breathing. She mentioned that he suffered from various health problems, including diabetes.
