16 and Pregnant star Sean Garinger’s cause of death revealed five months after father-of-two, 20, was killed in ATV accident

During the sixth season of MTV’s show, Garinger appeared alongside his former partner, Selena Gutierrez (20), introducing their young family – Dareli (age 3) and Esmi (age 1).
On February 28, in Boone, North Carolina, Garinger tragically passed away after an ATV accident at his residence. The ATV turned over, resulting in grave head wounds for him.
I’ve learned from reliable sources, such as the Medical Examiner’s office in Raleigh, North Carolina, reported by TMZ, that the cause of his demise was a traumatic injury to the head due to blunt force.
The documents reveal Garinger’s skull was ‘fractured in multiple places.’
In March, Garinger’s mom expressed that her deceased son was her “pillar” and her “source of strength” during the confirmation of his sad passing.
I can’t help but feel like a massive piece of me shattered on Wednesday, as my dear only son took his last breath. He was more than just my child; he was the bedrock of my existence, my source of strength when I felt utterly depleted.
In the sixth season of MTV’s show, Garinger made an appearance in front of the cameras during part B. She was among the five pregnant teens whose experiences were featured on the program.
Garinger’s mother shared with The U.S. Sun the details of the unfortunate incident where his skull was severely crushed.
Hobbs explained that he was helping me shift the ATV from one parking space to another, enabling me to park backward. However, as he positioned it in front of me, the soft ground collapsed due to heavy rain and mud.
Hobbs said her son’s head suffered severe head injuries when the ATV flipped over.
I dashed next door in desperation, imploring anyone to lend a hand in moving the ATV from him. Alas, there was no response. With heavy heart, I returned to him, only to sadly acknowledge that he had passed away.
Before the ambulance arrived, Hobbs placed herself next to her son on the ground.
In an interview with the media, she shared, “My heart was shattered into pieces when my son passed away on Wednesday. He was not just my son but also my source of strength and support, especially during my most difficult times.”
I was eagerly looking forward to buying a car so I could make frequent visits to my dear daughters who live with their mother and grandmother in Fountain, Colorado.
Hobbs shared with the media outlet that she and Garinger had gone to a car dealership earlier in the day, intending to return, but unfortunately they “failed to make it back to the dealership” before the tragic event occurred.
I’ve encountered many people in my life, but few have left an impact quite like her. She spoke with a nostalgic glow as she reminisced about her late child. Their bond was something special, something that seemed to ignite with every spontaneous car ride for a road trip or a day at the beach. The music they shared, the fast cars that brought them thrill, and the shooting ranges where they connected over their love for guns – these were just a few of the many adventures they embarked on together. Her voice was filled with awe as she recounted these memories, each one a testament to the extraordinary bond they shared. It’s clear that her child’s spirit lived on in those moments, and I feel privileged to have heard her share them with me.
Sean brought joy and light into my life unlike anyone else. He was more than just my son; he was my cherished baby, my source of comfort, and the rhythm of my heart.
On March 1, Major Kelly Redmon of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office informed the Watauga Democrat that both the Watauga Medics and the sheriff’s office had attended the scene of a fatal accident where they identified Garinger as the deceased person.
An ATV collided with Garinger after he attempted to move it, causing it to roll down an incline, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The WCSO expressed deep sympathy in a statement, lamenting the sadness felt by the family and close friends following the victim’s demise.
Based on an obituary published by Austin & Barnes Funeral Home in Garinger, the person referred to as “Squishy” was a military child who left a significant impact on communities across the country.
No matter the person’s age, he was unable to recognize a stranger and was always ready to offer assistance. His friendly and charitable disposition made him beloved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The obituary revealed that Garinger lived every moment with great zest and his insatiable thirst for adventure and thrill was reflected in every part of his existence.

And when it comes to ATVs, there’s nothing quite like conquering rugged terrains and feeling the raw power beneath me. Lastly, I’ve found solace in the calming embrace of the ocean – surfing its waves and immersing myself in its beauty is a moment of pure bliss that leaves me rejuvenated and ready for the next adventure.
A service was held in his memory Saturday at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
The MTV program showed the aftermath of the conflict between Garinger and Gutierrez during her initial pregnancy, with her convinced that he had been untrue to her.
According to a family insider, Garinger and Gutierrez have been living apart for over a year now, and both have been seen dating other people recently.
A week prior to his death, Garinger went to Colorado to see Selena’s family, where he had arranged to visit his daughters, the insider shared. However, the source noted, Gutierrez was in a troubled state following the news of his ex-partner’s passing.
At the time before Garinger’s passing, he was progressing favorably and harbored a strong desire to complete his education, aiming for a future in welding as his chosen career.
According to the obituary, Dareli and Esmi, as well as their mother Mary, are the ones who are still alive to mourn the passing of Garinger. Additionally, Shania, Lydia, Isabella, Ember, Kayden, and Casslyn are also among his surviving sisters.
