13 Going on 30 musical confirms world premiere in Manchester

As a lifelong fan of romantic comedies and musicals, I can’t help but feel a rush of nostalgia as I hear about the upcoming world premiere of “13 Going on 30 – The Musical”! Having grown up watching Jennifer Garner grace our screens in this iconic role, I can’t wait to see how they bring the story to life in musical form.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the movie “13 Going on 30”, making us both nostalgic and a bit older! Excitingly, we have exclusive news: The world premiere of its musical adaptation will take place in Manchester next year.

Announcement: 13 Going on 30 – The Musical, penned by the original film’s writers Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, is set to make its debut at Manchester Opera House on September 21, 2025, as confirmed by ROYO, Revolution Studios, Wendy Federman, and Phil Kenny.

Following the well-received workshop held in London for the updated rendition of Jennifer Garner’s 2004 romantic comedy, where Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer, and Brie Larson (in one of her initial film appearances) were among the stars, we are now planning to move forward with production.

Announcements about auditions for the musical adaptation of “13 Going on 30” are imminent! Here’s a sneak peek at its official poster, showcasing a gown that will surely ring a bell with fans of the film.

13 Going on 30 as a Musical is set to be helmed by acclaimed director Andy Fickman, boasting tunes from the talented duo Michael Weiner and Alan Zachary, recognized for their work in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

Ticketing begins at 1:30 PM on November 13th. This is for a short-term event spanning from September 21st, 2025, to October 12th, 2025. The prices start from £15.

Goldsmith and Yuspa stated, ‘When we penned the movie ’13 Going on 30′, we wouldn’t have imagined that on its 20th anniversary, a fresh crop of fans would discover the charm of Razzles and embrace the spirit of being thirty, flirty, and thriving.’

Working with ROYO, Revolution Studios, songwriters Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, along with director Andy Fickman, has been an incredible experience. Together, we’ve brought this tale from the screen to the stage.

Last year, the audience’s enthusiasm for our workshop left us exhilarated, and now, with anticipation building, we’re eagerly preparing for our grand opening at the illustrious Manchester Opera House – a venue renowned for launching countless legendary musicals.
