Amy Slaton from TLC is continuing her incredible transformation, and she’s now taking her makeover to the next level.
Amanda Halterman, known from the reality show 1000-lb Sisters where she and her sister Tammy documented their efforts to lose weight, recently had surgery – but it wasn’t related to weight loss.
TMZ released a new video on Friday of Amy having surgery to fix her lazy eye, something she’s dealt with since she was born.
I was absolutely devastated when I found out about her health struggles back in 2015. She bravely shared on YouTube that she has this incredibly rare eye condition called ocular toxoplasmosis – it’s a parasite that infects the eye, and sadly, it left her legally blind in one eye. It just makes me admire her even more that she’s still creating amazing content despite everything!
The video shows doctors performed surgery on both of Slaton’s eyes. Her husband, Brian Lovvorn, was very worried and shared that his greatest fear was she wouldn’t wake up after the anesthesia.
Okay, seriously, I’m counting down the seconds until March 3rd! That’s when the new episode finally drops and we get to SEE everything! And Amy’s been dropping hints on social media – she looks AMAZING, you guys! It’s going to be so good, I can barely handle the wait!
On Friday, she shared a photo on Instagram of a stylish outfit she wore to an event the previous day.
The performance was great, but everyone was also noticing how good she looked. She’d recently had surgery to correct a lazy eye, and the results were clearly visible, along with her noticeable weight loss.
Slaton beamed at the camera, flashing her megawatt smile, looking happier than ever.
She recently shared a glimpse of her new hairstyle on TikTok, playfully asking for more episodes of South Park while showcasing her makeup-free face.
The surgery happened only a few months after she married Lovvorn, in a Halloween-themed wedding.
The couple exchanged vows at the historic Talbott Tavern, a charming and reportedly haunted inn. This spooky location was fitting for the pair, as they had previously gotten engaged in the padded cell of a haunted house in Henderson, Kentucky.
Tammy and Misty Slaton were there to see the proposal. Pictures posted on Instagram show Tammy looking radiant in a white dress, clearly showing how much weight she’s lost.
Since the end of 2022, Tammy has lost 500 pounds after having weight loss surgery and operations to remove excess skin.
To prepare for the event, Slaton dyed her hair a unique color and styled it in an old-fashioned updo, as requested by Lovvorn, according to People magazine.
Her gown dazzled with floral and vine beading details, adding a romantic, ethereal touch.
The couple said traditional vows at their wedding, which was led by their friend Billy. He had also officiated the wedding of Tammy’s late husband, Caleb Willingham, back in 2022.
Slaton shared with People that finding her soulmate, Brian, has brought her complete happiness, and she feels like she’s finally found where she belongs, now that they’re getting married.
Once you really get to know him, you’ll discover he’s incredibly kind and thoughtful – truly one of the most caring people you’ll ever meet! He not only stole my heart, but he also quickly won over my sons, which is rare – it’s not every man who embraces a single mom and her two lively boys.
Slaton shares two sons – Gage Deon, 4, and Glenn Allen, 3 – with ex-husband Michael Halterman.
Tammy has openly shared her weight loss journey, much of which has been shown on the show 1000-Lb. Sisters. She announced in April 2025 that she had lost an impressive 500 pounds.
She revealed on her TLC show that she once weighed over 700 pounds, but now weighs 238 pounds.
Tammy even compared her progress to that of her sister Amy, who had lost 176 pounds at the time.
She said people kept telling her she looked smaller than Amy, which she found hard to accept. She also expressed disbelief at something she had done.
Tammy shared in June that she had skin removal surgery earlier in the year, after reaching a significant goal.
‘I was just overwhelmed with excitement,’ she told People, recalling the moment she was approved.
Oh my gosh, I can’t even tell you! I put everything into this, and finally, it happened! You could probably see it on my face – first, total shock, and then just…pure, overwhelming happiness. I was completely blown away!
After undergoing treatment and bariatric surgery at Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in Gibsonburg, Ohio, Tammy lost over 400 pounds during her 14-month stay.
It was also where she met her late husband, Caleb Willingham.
Known as ‘Double K,’ Caleb starred on the show with Tammy, where they both worked to address their long-term struggles with obesity.
The couple got married in a private ceremony with about 30 close friends and family members, and their home healthcare provider led the service.
Just months after getting married, Caleb sadly passed away at the age of 40. The reason for his death was never revealed.
Oh my god, it was just awful hearing Tammy talk about finding out. Apparently, a friend of Caleb’s texted her first, saying things were really bad, and then, like, twenty minutes later, he just told her the news. My heart breaks for her just hearing her describe it! It was so fast and devastating, I can’t even imagine.
‘I was sitting in the fetal position,’ she recalled to People.
I received a text message from a friend of Caleb’s saying he was very sick and doctors were working to help him. Just twenty minutes later, that same friend texted me to say Caleb had passed away. Earlier in the show 1000-Lb. Sisters, Tammy had shared that their relationship had become distant in his final months, describing them as feeling more like roommates than a couple before he died.
