We now have more information about the upcoming movie, and it confirms the project is still in development. This news also suggests we might see different versions of the character’s backstory explored. It remains to be seen what this could lead to in the future.
We don’t know for sure which Spider-Man characters will return beyond Miguel O’Hara and Spider-Punk, but other Marvel movies have created more possibilities. This means a lot of different Spider-Man variants could potentially show up alongside Miles.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Has to Meet Miles at Some Point
Tom Holland has become the definitive Spider-Man, consistently proving his talent as an actor. In the new film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we see a more grown-up version of the character, a significant change from his earlier performances. He also brings experience from previous appearances in Spider-Verse stories.
It would be great to see Peter Holland take Miles under his wing, given all Peter has experienced. It would be a satisfying twist, and help both characters grow.
Drake Bell’s Ultimate Spider-Man Should Have a Second Chance
The Spectacular Spider-Man is widely considered a fantastic show, but it was unfairly canceled to make way for a new series called Ultimate Spider-Man. This new show featured Spider-Man teaming up with other heroes, and was unique for breaking the fourth wall, with Drake Bell providing the voice for the character.
While Bell’s Spider-Man had a chance to shine in the Spider-Verse and even encountered his own version of Miles Morales, many fans feel he’s still underappreciated. Although the show was generally good, Bell’s portrayal of Spider-Man was particularly memorable, and a return appearance would be fantastic for those who enjoyed his version growing up.
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Started it All and Deserves to be There For Miles
The 2002 film Spider-Man remains a standout superhero movie, and for good reason. It introduced Spider-Man to a new audience and demonstrated that the character could thrive on the big screen. Ever since, Tobey Maguire’s portrayal has become the standard against which all other Spider-Man films are measured.
Miles Morales, similar to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, really deserves a chance to connect with a more experienced hero, even if just briefly. If Miles were to move beyond his animated universe into live-action, it would be a missed opportunity if he didn’t get guidance from someone like Tobey Maguire, especially considering Miles is struggling with fear, feeling lost, and trying to rescue a loved one.
Spider-Man: New Animated Series Offers a New Direction For a Beloved Hero
Around the same time as other Spider-Man shows, Spider-Man: The New Animated Series used a 3D animation style that doesn’t look as good today. The show told a particularly sad story for Peter Parker, and it was cancelled after just one season. The series ended with Peter accidentally putting his girlfriend in a coma and deciding to give up being Spider-Man for good.
Since the Spider-Verse movies haven’t explored this yet, it would be compelling to see a more troubled version of Peter Parker. Having a Peter who both warns Miles about the dangers of being a hero, but also encourages him to save his father and prevent a tragic outcome, could add a lot of dramatic depth to the story.
Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man Was Teased But Never Appeared
Many fans consider Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man to be the least popular of the live-action versions, but his return in Spider-Man: No Way Home was well-received and left audiences wanting more. Despite a brief appearance of old footage from The Amazing Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it seems his story has come to a close.
It would be fantastic to see Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker mentor Miles Morales, especially considering Miles is still struggling after Gwen Stacy’s death. And honestly, any chance to see Garfield’s witty and unique Spider-Man personality is always welcome.
Spider-Man: The Animated Series’ Spidey Still Hasn’t Been in the Spider-Verse Films
Many fans consider Spider-Man: The Animated Series to be the best and most memorable animated take on the character. While the 1960s series gave us the classic theme song, this series truly shaped how Spider-Man was portrayed in animation. It’s remembered for everything from Spider-Man’s dramatic pursuit of villains like Shocker to its introduction of characters like Blade and the Punisher to the animated world, making it a standout series.
The Spider-Man from the old Spider-Man: Unlimited cartoon made a cameo in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Since Unlimited was essentially a follow-up to the 90s Spider-Man Animated Series, many fans feel it’s about time Christopher Daniel Barnes, who voiced Spider-Man in that series, returned to play the character again.
The PS1 Version of Spider-Man is a Legend
When people think of classic Spider-Man games, the recent one by Insomniac Games often comes to mind. However, the most iconic version is actually the original PlayStation 1 game, featuring voice acting by Rino Romano.
Now, as the third film approaches, it’s the perfect time to see him again in all his glory.
Kaine is a Spider-Man Clone With a Great History
Kaine, the third and most physically altered Spider-Man clone, has always struggled with his identity. But when he emerged, he became a much more aggressive hero than Peter Parker, though still compelling to watch, even if he didn’t share Peter’s lightheartedness.
Ben Reilly’s appearance in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse suggests that the idea of clones isn’t being ruled out for future stories. His presence as the Scarlet Spider also gives Miguel O’Hara another powerful, potentially dangerous ally to help him oppose Miles Morales. Considering his abilities and suit, Miles would be wise to stay far away from him.
Spiders-Man is a Walking Horror Show and an Animation Delight
The story of Peter Parker, better known as Spider-Man, usually begins with a famous origin. But in this terrifying version, Peter doesn’t just get bitten by radioactive spiders – he’s consumed by them. A swarm of spiders merges with his mind and body, creating a single, monstrous being that still tries to be a hero. This horrifying take on Spider-Man is truly one of a kind.
Including Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse would be a fantastic way to explore the character’s darker side. Plus, it would be amazing for movie fans to witness the animation team’s ability to create a dynamic, unified group of spiders.
The Superior Spider-Man Left a Mark in Comics Fans Haven’t Forgotten
For a while, Otto Octavius swapped minds with Peter Parker and became the new Spider-Man, calling himself the Superior Spider-Man. This storyline was controversial when it first came out, but it’s now considered a significant one in Spider-Man’s history. What makes it especially compelling is that Otto was originally one of Peter’s biggest enemies, and this experience forced him to learn what it meant to be a hero.
As Miguel O’Hara seems to be drifting towards villainous behavior in the movies, adding a classic villain like Doc Ock to the Spider-Verse would be a great choice. He’s become a major figure in recent comics, essentially an icon, so including him feels essential. It would also be cool to see different versions of Doc Ock alongside each other.
