10 My Hero Academia Characters Stronger Than Captain Celebrity (And Way Less Cocky)
Lately, the franchise has unveiled an amazing new character inspired by Superman, called Captain Celebrity, to anime enthusiasts. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize that Captain Celebrity is a force to be reckoned with. With his Flight Quirk, he possesses immense power and agility, allowing him to deliver punches potent enough to fell kaiju-sized adversaries and even lift entire cruise ships overhead. Indeed, Captain Celebrity stands out as an impressive warrior, but there are others who can surpass him in combat, such as both heroes and villains.
In the world of My Hero Academia, not many characters possess the strength to lift a cruise ship, but being a formidable fighter involves more than just brute force. It encompasses mastering a potent Quirk, exceptional martial arts skills, strategic thinking, and a quick, resourceful mind. When you bring together these qualities, it’s these ten My Hero Academia characters who could potentially outmatch Captain Celebrity in a fair fight, even if just barely.
Quirk: One For All
Fans of My Hero Academia can effortlessly draw parallels between Captain Celebrity and his Japanese counterpart, All Might, and recognize that All Might stands out as the superior and more powerful of the two. Not only does he possess an extraordinary physique and masterful combat abilities, but also wields the immense power of One For All. The only advantage Captain Celebrity has over All Might is his ability to fly – a talent All Might lacks.
Beyond the unique mobility of Flight Quirk, All Might holds a clear edge when these two superheroes are compared. At the peak of his powers, All Might was nearly invincible, capable of defeating even the most powerful villains with a single punch. Unlike Flight Quirk, All Might relies more on traditional martial arts techniques rather than flashy media support and flight to overpower his enemies.
Quirk: Half-Cold Half-Hot
In the world of My Hero Academia, it isn’t essential for every fighter to exceed Captain Celebrity in raw physical strength and endurance. The charm lies in characters like Shoto Todoroki who excel due to unique combat styles, where brute force isn’t the only determining factor. Shoto Todoroki manages to keep up with Captain Celebrity primarily because of his special ability, Half-Cold Half-Hot, which sets him apart.
In a remarkable twist, it wasn’t just training that made Shoto an exceptional pro hero; he was naturally gifted with two potent Quirks – a unique blend of fire and ice – thanks to Rei. Even when using his icy abilities alone, Shoto demonstrates astonishing power for his age. But when he harnesses the power of both fire and ice, Shoto becomes virtually invincible. Since Shoto fully tapped into his fire side and honed his skills, he has surpassed even the top pro hero from the USA in strength.
Quirk: All For One (Limited)
The main factor hindering the villainous character, Nine, is his questionable health, leading him to search for a cellular regeneration ability on Nabu Island. If Nine manages to stay in one piece, he can inflict significantly greater harm than someone like Captain Celebrity. This is due to the fact that, similar to certain other characters from “My Hero Academia”, Nine possesses the unique ability to utilize multiple potent powers concurrently, a trait that Captain Celebrity does not have.
Equipped with a personal weather manipulation ability, known as his Quirk, Nine possesses the power to unleash tornadoes and thunderstorms, causing widespread destruction and harming his physical well-being in the process. Additionally, he utilizes a variant of the All For One Quirk, granting him access to additional abilities such as Bullet Laser, Air Wall, and Hydra. In a fierce battle against Class 1-A on Nabu Island, he showcased the full might of these powers, forcing Deku and Bakugo, who were both using One For All, to combine their strengths just to halt his rampage.
Quirk: New Order
For a while, Captain Famous relished his role as the leading American superhero, but around the time of ‘My Hero Academia: Vigilantes’ and the main anime, Star and Stripe overtook him as Uncle Sam’s primary protector. Unlike Captain Famous, Star and Stripe was humbler, blending her bravery with a deeper dedication to heroism. Additionally, she found motivation in All Might, which significantly influenced young Cathleen Bate.
By the time she squared off against Tomura in “My Hero Academia,” Star and Stripe was not only the leading American pro hero but also one of the most powerful fighters globally. Her strength comes from her incredibly versatile New Order Quirk, which surpasses Captain Celebrity’s Flight in adaptability. With this Quirk, and the assistance of her Air Force comrades, Star and Stripe can control the skies and battle in ways Captain Celebrity has yet to envision.
Quirk: Various
The Nomu creatures were crafted and granted unique abilities to challenge professional heroes, yet the majority of them merely served as underdogs for these pros, seldom achieving significant victories. An exception to this was the Nomu specifically engineered to oppose All Might, who was quickly defeated, but not the enigmatic Nomu known as Hood or Number Hood. This peculiar Nomu engaged in combat with the new top hero, Endeavor, and managed to momentarily claim victory.
The hooded character showcases multiple exceptional abilities within its robust structure, placing it ahead of Endeavor, the fire-wielding hero, in terms of competitiveness. When fully utilizing these abilities and engaging in fierce combat, Hood becomes a formidable adversary, surpassing even Captain Famous in potential danger. Lifting a cruise ship might not be within Hood’s capabilities, but battles are not won that way.
Quirk: Float / One For All
From my perspective as an onlooker, it’s indisputable that multiple bearers of the One For All Quirk outmatch Captain Celebrity in combat. The reason is quite simple: One For All possesses an extraordinary level of power. By the time Nana Shimura, its seventh wielder, held this formidable Quirk, it had amassed a colossal energy reserve that could be unleashed in a single, devastating burst. Unlike Captain Celebrity, who may exhibit impressive strength, there’s no known method for him to accumulate power over years and then discharge it in such a manner.
In combat, renowned pro heroes such as Nana Shimura surpass Captain Stardom, despite the latter’s ability to lift a cruise ship overhead. While Captain Stardom possesses this incredible strength feat, Nana Shimura excels with Smash attacks, which puts her on par with All For One in terms of combat effectiveness. It’s also worth mentioning that Nana had the Float Quirk, providing her battle mobility almost equivalent to Captain Stardom’s Flight Quirk.
Quirk: All For One
All For One is essentially a multitude of villains combined into one formidable entity, perhaps even thousands. Over numerous decades, he’s amassed an array of powerful and versatile abilities, leaving him with virtually no vulnerabilities or tactical blind spots during combat. Regardless of the strategies his adversaries employ, All For One seems to always possess a Quirk or two that allows him to turn the tide back in his favor.
remarkably, All For One’s vast array of Quirks grants him physical power akin to that of All Might, which is significant. When he amasses enough physical Quirks in his arms, All For One can unleash punches powerful enough to knock All Might off balance, and there’s no doubt he could do the same to Captain Celebrity under similar circumstances. Furthermore, as a seasoned user and collector of Quirks, All For One possesses a greater understanding of battle tactics than Captain Celebrity likely would.
Quirk: Overhaul
Despite the humbling conclusion of Overhaul in the Shie Hassaikai story arc, “My Hero Academia” enthusiasts should never underestimate the sheer terror this villainous mastermind posed. With a mere touch, his Quirk, aptly named Overhaul, could obliterate a person’s physical form to its very atoms—as demonstrated by the swift demise of Magne. Not even Captain Celebrity or a wielder of One For All possesses the chilling ability to perform such a gruesome feat.
Starting off, Overhaul showcases an extraordinary combat technique as a villain. He has the ability to manipulate the environment to his advantage, creating spikes to pin down opponents or constructing barriers to deflect attacks or separate enemies. In extreme situations, he can unleash his full potential by merging with others, transforming into a colossal beast with formidable strength that’s hard to counter. It took All Might at his maximum power to subdue Overhaul in this form, and it seems unlikely that Captain Celebrity could match such a feat.
Quirk: One For All
It’s all thanks to the power he inherited that Deku has surpassed pros like All Might and Captain Celebrity in terms of strength. While he may not possess their unyielding resilience or battlefield acumen, Deku makes up for it with his activation of One For All’s additional abilities and his strategic approach to combat. Being initially Quirk-less forced Deku to fight smart, which has now turned out to be one of his most significant assets.
Through tireless effort and innovative technique, Deku managed to close the gap between himself and All Might, eventually surpassing that threshold with the awakening of One For All. In the heat of the conflict against evil, Deku now possesses the might required to vanquish Tomura, a battle that may demand the ultimate sacrifice of One For All and its inherent abilities. When it comes to agility in combat, fans often note similarities between Deku’s Float and Blackwhip movements and Captain Celebrity’s flight-like speed, despite the fact that Deku still trails slightly behind.
Quirk: Decay
In the following rephrasing, I’ve tried to maintain the original meaning while using simpler and more natural language:
Tomura Shigaraki, the embodiment of evil, surpassed his master’s lofty expectations after defeating Re-Destro and amassing a collection of Quirks for himself. In the climactic battle, Tomura showcased an impressive variety of Quirks, making him a formidable adversary even against the strongest heroic figures. With this multitude of powers at his disposal, Tomura has earned the title of multiple villains in one. Having such a vast array of abilities simultaneously gives characters the edge over popular heroes like Captain Celebrity.
Beyond his other abilities, Tomura possesses a unique power: he can rapidly grow fingers in various locations, a skill unparalleled among professional heroes. This peculiar talent operates even under the suppression of Eraser Head’s powers, making it virtually unstoppable. Moreover, Tomura has awakened his original Decay Quirk, which can effortlessly decay wide areas with alarming swiftness.
