As we hear more and more about a potential Hogwarts Legacy 2, excitement is building for the next game in the series. The first Hogwarts Legacy was already packed with fun features like flying and powerful spells, but there’s still plenty of room to expand on that foundation.
Some fans are starting to worry that the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy 2 might not be as good as the first game, based on recent news. With the story heading in an uncertain direction and many details still hidden, players are waiting for more information before getting excited. While we don’t know exactly what the developers are planning, there are several features from the original Hogwarts Legacy that fans are hoping will be included in the sequel.
Allow Stealth To Be Used In More Situations
Perhaps Having To Be Stealthy At Night After Curfew
While Hogwarts Legacy included a stealth system, it wasn’t utilized very well. One questline made good use of it, but stealth could have been a more significant part of the game overall. It felt like a missed opportunity, since the feature was already built in.
One simple way the game could feel more realistic – and hopefully will in a future installment – is by enforcing a curfew. The characters are students at Hogwarts, and Harry Potter often had to sneak around after hours. But in the game, you could roam the castle at any time without consequences, even though a curfew feels like a natural part of the school experience.
Adding a system where players need to avoid detection by prefects – similar to what the mod creator nathdev did for Hogwarts Legacy on CurseForge – would significantly enhance the gameplay. It could also make nighttime play much more engaging, encouraging players to use stealth.
More Spell Options, There Are So Many Cool Possibilities
Nox, Expecto Patronum, Or Animagus For Example
A highlight of Hogwarts Legacy was learning and using spells, though the game didn’t include as many as fans might have hoped. The Harry Potter universe has a vast array of spells for all kinds of situations, and while it would be a huge undertaking to include them all in the game, adding a few more would have been great.
Adding a spell like Nox to darken lights would really enhance the stealth gameplay and feel natural, especially since we already have Lumos for light. I also think it would be amazing to use the Animagus transformation to become an animal, opening up possibilities for interesting quests and exploration.
Companions And Friendship Levels
We Shouldn’t Have To Be All Alone
Harry Potter had Ron and Hermione, and we often see strong friendships in those stories. Why can’t players build those same kinds of connections in Hogwarts Legacy? While the game had a few moments with other students, it feels like there’s a lot of potential for deeper friendships and more meaningful interactions.
Because the game takes place in a school with many students, it would be great to have a friendship system. You could build relationships with classmates, and as you become closer, they could even join you on adventures! This would make the game feel more realistic and less isolating for the player character.
Multiplayer For Cooperative Play
Let Us Explore The World With Our Friends
It would be even more enjoyable to experience this detailed and well-known world with friends, exploring places like Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest together. While adding multiplayer to a role-playing game can be challenging, it’s definitely possible, as proven by games such as Baldur’s Gate.
This feature would greatly enhance the ability to customize your character’s clothing and accessories. While you can already see and enjoy your unique style in Hogwarts Legacy, sharing it with friends currently requires taking and sending a screenshot.
More Unique Quests Based On House
Adds To Replayability, And Immersion
Okay, so I played through Hogwarts Legacy, and honestly, the House you get sorted into didn’t end up being a huge deal for me. Yeah, the common room looked different, and you got one specific friend and a unique little questline tied to your House. But after that, it felt pretty superficial – like it didn’t really impact my time at Hogwarts all that much. Unless you really got into roleplaying your House’s personality, it was more of a cosmetic choice than anything else.
A sequel to Hogwarts Legacy could feature companions with more developed personalities influenced by your chosen Hogwarts House. Each House could also have its own set of unique quests, encouraging players to replay the game and experience everything it has to offer, further enhancing the game’s immersive world.
Attending Classes With Minigames
We Are Supposed To Be Students, Aren’t We?
In Hogwarts Legacy 2, players can likely expect a greater focus on attending classes and completing schoolwork. While the first game didn’t delve much into the student experience, the developers seem to be addressing player feedback and making lessons a more important part of the game.
While bigger things are probably happening in the wider world, our characters still need to go to classes to succeed. If the game let us actually attend classes – maybe with fun minigames for homework and tests that teach us spells – it would truly feel like we’re students at Hogwarts.
Expanded Map With More Things In It
Give Us More Reasons To Explore The Beautiful Countryside
Hogwarts Legacy is a beautiful game. Exploring its world, with details like realistic water and swaying grass, can be surprisingly relaxing. While it’s a great RPG, a sequel, Hogwarts Legacy 2, could really expand on and deepen the experience of this magical world.
It’s not about simply adding more enemies. Instead, the game could benefit from more hidden quests, interesting characters to meet, and richer environments based on locations from the books – it would be great to explore those familiar places virtually. The Forbidden Forest, in particular, feels like it could offer much more than just a place to fight enemies; it has potential for unique experiences and environments.
Romance Possibilities Would Be Appreciated
It Can Still Be PG To Fit Teenage Dating
As mentioned earlier regarding companions, the interactions with characters in Hogwarts Legacy weren’t very engaging. If Hogwarts Legacy 2 also features a teenage protagonist, any romantic relationships would need to be more innocent than those found in games like Baldur’s Gate, but they could still be included.
If a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy included a system for building friendships with other students, it would make sense to also allow players to pursue romantic relationships with some of them.
Quidditch Should Finally Be Playable
Even Something Small Would Be Better Than Nothing
The developers of Hogwarts Legacy explained the absence of Quidditch by stating that Headmaster Black had cancelled it for the year. It’s unclear if this was a deliberate move to promote Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, or simply due to the game’s development timeline, but many players were disappointed by its exclusion.
It would be fantastic to see Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy 2, inspired by the gameplay of Quidditch Champions. Even something simple, like a Quidditch lesson during gym class, would be a really enjoyable addition.
Morality System Where The Dark Arts Matter
Unforgivable Curses Shouldn’t Have Exceptions Because We’re Cool
Games like Hogwarts Legacy 2 will likely offer players many choices, from how they speak to others to whether they learn dark magic. However, in the first Hogwarts Legacy, those choices didn’t seem to have much impact on how the game world reacted to you.
Fig was incredibly tolerant, even if you used a dark curse right in front of him. To make the next Hogwarts Legacy game truly feel real, it needs a system where your choices have consequences and change the game world. For example, if you delve into the Dark Arts, other students should react with fear. Conversely, choosing to be good could unlock unique conversations or even lead to a different ending. This kind of impactful choice system is essential for Hogwarts Legacy 2.
