1 Year After Removal, Jackass Officially Returns With a Major Twist

Just before the release of the fifth – and likely last – movie, the original TV series is once again available on streaming. It was removed from Paramount+ last year, but has now been brought back after some adjustments.

According to reports, all three seasons of Jackass, originally shown on MTV, are now available again on Paramount+. Johnny Knoxville and the Jackass crew had asked for the show to be taken down from streaming services last year because they weren’t satisfied with how it looked. They wanted to go back and fix some of the original creative parts that had been changed over time.

Jackass Returns in the Way It Was Meant to Be Seen

Sam Knoxville explained that after 26 years, the original Jackass TV episodes had been so heavily edited and rearranged that they were almost completely different from how they first aired. He realized this when he tried watching them last year! He praised Paramount for providing the funds to restore the shows to their original format, and said they’re excited for fans to finally see all the old stunts as they were originally intended.

Before YouTube was filled with daring stunts, crude jokes, and wild pranks, the creators of Jackass were already doing them on MTV from 2000 to 2002. The show was made with the help of Spike Jonze and Jeff Tremaine, and featured performers like Steve-O, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Chris Pontius, Jason “Wee Man” Acuna, Preston Lacy, Dave England, and “Danger Ehren” McGhehey.

When Jackass first aired, it was a completely new type of television show, featuring unedited and spontaneous moments that kept viewers guessing. However, it also sparked controversy because fans, particularly young ones, began attempting the dangerous stunts performed on the show and getting injured. Eventually, MTV started including disclaimers before each episode, warning people not to try the stunts at home.

Jackass Moved From TV to the Big Screen

Once the TV show ended, the Jackass crew continued making content with a series of movies. It began with Jackass: The Movie in 2002, then Jackass Number Two in 2006, Jackass 3D in 2010, and most recently, Jackass Forever in 2022. Several spin-off shows were also created, like Viva La Bam starring Bam Margera, which famously showed him playing pranks on his parents. Steve-O and Pontius also had their own show, Wildboyz, where they traveled the world interacting with animals in funny and unusual ways.

This summer, the stars of Jackass are reuniting for their fifth and reportedly final movie, Jackass: Best and Last. The film will include new, outrageous stunts, but also look back at the franchise’s 25+ year history. It’s meant to be a farewell to fans, bringing back Johnny Knoxville and other beloved cast members for one last adventure.

You can now watch Jackass on Paramount+ in the U.S., with more countries getting access soon. Jackass: Best and Last will be available on June 26, 2026.
