1 Villain In Spider-Man’s Live-Action Show Sets Up A Character The MCU Abandoned 9 Years Ago

Even though it takes place in a very different world, the upcoming Prime Video series Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage, could actually show a more faithful version of a major Spider-Man love interest than we saw in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. The series will be reimagining several well-known Marvel characters.

The Spider-Noir series, with its setting inspired by classic film noir and pulp detective stories, offers a chance to reimagine familiar Spider-Man characters – both allies and enemies – with a grittier and more mature tone. We can expect to see new takes on characters like Black Cat, Sandman, Silvermane, and Robbie Robertson, among others.

The trailer for Spider-Noir hinted at the appearance of Molten Man, a villain who could bring back Liz Allan – a character we haven’t seen in a live-action Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man: Homecoming.

With Molten Man Seemingly Appearing, Liz Allan Could Be On Hand In Spider-Noir

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Laura Harrier played Liz Allan, who was Peter Parker’s high school crush. However, the movie version of Liz was quite different from the comic book character. While both were classmates of Peter’s and initially his love interest, the comic book Liz is known as Flash Thompson’s girlfriend, and is portrayed as popular but sometimes stuck-up – traits that weren’t really shown in the film.

Interestingly, Liz Allan wasn’t connected to the Vulture, despite him being her father in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead, in the comics, Liz was the step-sister of Molten Man, also known as Mark Raxton. This family connection played a significant role in Spider-Man’s fights with Molten Man, as his feelings for Liz often made him more complex and sympathetic.

The recent trailer for Spider-Noir showed a man on fire, suggesting the show will explore Ben Reilly’s fights with Molten Man and reveal more about his past. Since Liz Allan plays a significant role in Reilly’s history, she’ll likely be involved, perhaps as someone Cage’s character consults during his investigation of Molten Man.

This development could bring a version of Liz Allan to the screen that comic book fans will remember – a former classmate of Spider-Man and someone closely connected to Molten Man. Spider-Noir can use this connection to help find Molten Man, and it will also accurately portray the character from the comics while revealing key details about Ben Reilly’s history.
